Boko Haram: World Power Are Interested In Our Downfall - President Jonathan

The Nigerian President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan has again re-stated his position on the increasing attacks by the Islamist Terrorist, Boko Haram, saying that that the world powers are the brain behind the dreaded group.

President Jonathan made the disclosure during the 7th presidential media chat. This is not the first time the president will be making the allegations that with the level of the Boko Harm operations and the kind of sophisticated weapons in their cares, they are getting more than domestic backing but also foreign sponsors too.

According to the president: “Were are receiving an unfair share of the global terror.”

President Jonathan said while trying to blame external [foreign] forces targeting the destruction of Africa’s largest economy [Nigeria]. He argued that because of Nigeria’s size and economy, many world forces are interested in its downfall.
Jonathan has made the same position in the UN general assembly, appeal for the ban on proliferation of light and small weapons in Africa and developing Countries.

There have been many unconfirmed reports that foreign countries including United state of America, Turkey, Saudi Arabia are all involved in an undercover operations to distablise Nigeria due to its position in Africa sub-region.

Whichever way, the truth is that there vested interest outside the country backing the Islamist fundamentalists in their terrorism against the Nigeria state.

President Jonathan, while reviewing the capability of Nigeria’s security forces to respond to the increasing security challenges in Nigeria, he said they were “capable”, Adding that he had reached a decision to recruit more and train them well.

“Terrorism is not a phenomenon a six months or one year State of Emergency can solve,” the President said while justifying the performance of the state of emergency in place in the most affected northeast Nigeria states.

His explanation indicated a plan to extend the state of emergency in the affected states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, the home of the Islamist Boko Harma. Without the state of emergency, security operatives in affected states may be frustrated, he explains.

President Jonathan must increase the intelligent gathering of information from such foreign countries and embassies, and more so from Immediate neighbouring countries of Chad, Niger and Cameroon, where the terrorist fighters usually run to escape after their attacks.
