For crying out loud, he was a vice-president of a dying president and the constitution was clear about what happens in this circumstance. To not accept that he needed to ascend the presidency to preserve the constitutional order in Nigeria would have been absurd. Having said this, I also knew the best way to provide a summary insight into his presidency would be to look at the "Peter Principle" which states that "anything that works will be used in progressively more challenging applications until it fails". Peter principle has been summarized to a more widespread dictum: "everyone is promoted to their level of incompetence".
As a university lecturer, I always use marriage to explain this point. When young men and women get married, it is not because they are proven, but that they will learn to be better husbands and wives and make good as they go through the challenges. Therefore, because people eventually succeed in the new level they are promoted to, it surmises that there is some level of learning and improvement to one's ability and or capability at the level that will enable success to a reasonable degree.
Last night I finally concluded that Goodluck Jonathan was never promoted to his level of incompetence but BEYOND it. When people are promoted beyond their level of incompetence they have no chance to succeed because they have nothing inside them that will support success. I do not know if this statement is yet one of the most virulent ever made by anyone against Mr. Jonathan but the truth is that "inside" Jonathan, there exist no virtue, no knowledge, no enablement, absolutely nothing qualitative, that can make him succeed as a Nigerian leader. It is sad because he belongs to my generation. It is sad because it is going to be said that when one from my generation came upon the saddle, the horse bolted. It is going to be read years from now that when a member of my generation ruled Nigeria, things grew from bad to worse.
When a nation's president defends the act of STEALING to the entire world, an obvious criminal act is defended by the person sworn to protecting a country's laws and constitution there is more than a gross violation.
When presidents speak, they speak presidentially in the words of my good friend, Dapo Rotifa. What Jonathan said was not simply unpresidential, it was appallingly criminal. It behoves on the Nigerian people and representatives to get this man out and to do it constitutionally.

Nothing more supports the assertion of Mr. Tambuwal, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, that Jonathan's body language supports corruption. It isn't now just the body language, it is the whole body itself. And if this man escapes prosecution after leaving office, I can bet that he will never step out of Nigeria till the date he breathes his last because many countries across the whole wide world will be looking for him to prosecute him and his criminal partners.
This man is worse than James Onanefe Ibori. And I am not talking about the resource pillage him and his criminal partners have been engaged in. I am talking about his mindset and thoughts as a criminally minded individual. I am hurt; I am ashamed; I am benumbed. Wait and see what revelations there will be when he is kicked out of office eventually.
To equate stealing of public resources to common misdemeanor or a common malfeasance beats my imagination and that of all right thinking Nigerians the world over.
In the UK or the USA, an offence as simple as over-speeding cannot even be defended by a leader, not to talk of stealing public resources (misappropriation).
Nigeria, Nigeria, Nigeria!!! How many times did I call your name? How have you descended to this sorry pass?
