Hopes of finding missing plane as large object spotted in sea as the Chinese government discovered a new piece of debris in the sea, raising hopes of finding the missing Malaysian plane.

Acting Malaysian transport minister Hishammuddin Hussein was handed a hand-written note during a press conference saying that satellite images had found an object 22m long and 30m wide.

He told the assembled journalists that the debris had been seen in the southern corridor in the Indian ocean, but did not give more details about its location.
