ANALYSIS OF THE MATTERS OF O-STATE OF OSUN STATE (Part 2)

I'm particularly interested on whether Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, O-State governor , performed well or not during his 5 years in Office as 27th November approaches.

I will be dissecting each of his "O mantra" between now and 27th November, 2015.

I have treated A. O School and B. O Education (O-Uniform , O merger and O Opon Imo + O demolition)

One Year in Office: Aregbesola Flag-off Olaiya/Ita-Olookan Road In Osogbo

Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, Governor the State of Osun and his deputy Otunba Titi-Laoye Tomori mark their second term, first year in office in a grand style with the flag-off of Olaiya/Ita-Olookan road axis in Osogbo, the State capital.
The Governor who is always on track of bringing development to people in his usual style has embark on another set of flagging-off and commissioning of projects across the State which commenced with the opening of Wole Soyinka Government High School in Ejigbo last monday.

Ogbeni's vision to bring massive and sporadic development to Osun is well connected to his strong passion to set this State on best standard so as to have a desired status in the nation. The same reason his chains of good works was evenly spread across the nooks and crannies of the State of Osun.

Audu’s Replacement: APC Submits Yahaya Bello's Name To INEC

Yahaya Bello
The leading All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kogi State Governorship Election has submitted the name of Yahaya Bello to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s new candidate for Prince Abubakar Audu's replacement for the supplementary poll.

Yahaya Bello replaces Prince Abubakar Audu, who died last weekend after leading the poll with 41,000. Also APC has retained Hon. James Abiodun Faleke as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.

Mohammed Audu, the son of the late governorship candidate, was dumped by the party because the party felt that fielding him might vitiate the entire governorship poll in the state.

President Vladimir Putin of  Russia late Thursday said he was ready to coordinate strikes against the Islamic State with the United States and its allies but warned that acts like the Turkish downing of a Russian jet could destroy any chance of collaboration.

After talks with French President François Hollande at the Kremlin, Putin said, "We are ready to cooperate with the coalition which is led by the United States."

It was the most forthright commitment to a joint effort between Russia and the West since Moscow's seizure of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.

Putin deploys missiles in Syria after Turkey shoots down bomber

Russia deployed long-range air defense missiles at its air base in Syria Thursday in a rapid response to the downing of one of its bombers by a Turkish warplane.

Russia's state-owned RIA Novosti news agency, quoting its own reporter on the ground, reported that the shipment of S-400 long-range missiles had been delivered. They will be based in Syria's coastal province of Latakia, just 30 miles away from the border with Turkey and are capable of striking targets within a 250-mile range with deadly precision.

The deployment of the missiles came hours after Turkey released audio recordings of what it says are the Turkish military's warnings to the pilot of the Russian Su-24 bomber that was shot down at the border with Syria early Tuesday.

Kogi Election; The Law is really an ass!!! Often a tragic ass!!!

An election was conducted for governorship/deputy governorship position, not for governorship and deputy governorship positions. The votes of the governor is not counted separately from that of the deputy governor, it is assumed that what ever is counted for the governor, equally applies for his deputy. There are countries where the deputy governor stand election separately from the governor. Of course the joint ticket has to be sponsored by a political party. The election was over 85% concluded before about 41,000 votes were and rescheduled. Can we cancelled an on-going election on the basis of the death of an aspirant? Can we void legitimate votes because an aspirant dies?

Now, the governorship candidate of the leading political party suddenly died, supposing he is the losing candidate, what would have been the reaction of the people? The election was declared inconclusive and a supplementary election was ordered by INEC. But even the supplementary election is said to be strange to the constitution and any other electoral law. Some people insist that the supplementary election is illegal. This implies that if supplementary election is illegal, then, as at the end of the election, there should have been a winner, abi?

The Guardian: Is Vladimir Putin right to label Turkey ‘accomplices of terrorists’?

The relationship hinted at by Russian leader after warplane was shot down is a complex one, and includes links between senior Isis figures and Turkish officials
Since the earliest months of the Syrian war, Turkey has had more direct involvement and more at stake than any of the regional states lined up against Bashar al-Assad.

Turkish borders have been the primary thoroughfare for fighters of all kinds to enter Syria. Its military bases have been used to distribute weapons and to train rebel fighters. And its frontier towns and villages have taken in almost one million refugees.

Turkey’s international airports have also been busy. Many, if not most, of the estimated 15,000-20,000 foreign fighters to have joined Islamic State (Isis) have first flown into Istanbul or Adana, or arrived by ferry along its Mediterranean coast.

Latest On NATO-Russia Tensions Rise After Turkey Downs Jet - A planned Provocation says Putin

The Russian radar showed that the Turkish jet went directly to the border and shot the Russian jet without hesitation. This was deliberate to protect their agenda of eventually taking the Syrian lands just south of their border.

President Putin says second pilot of downed warplane rescued from rebel territory

President Vladimir Putin of Russia has on Wednesday said that the second pilot of a Russian military jet that was shot down by Turkey near the Syrian border has been rescued.

Putin's comments appeared to confirm a statement from the Syrian armed forces that said a special unit carried out a "qualitative" operation with Russian forces overnight. The statement said Syrian and Russian forces penetrated into the areas where "terrorists" are entrenched at a depth of 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles) and rescued the pilot. It said he is in "good health."

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told local news agencies that the pilot was rescued in a 12-hour operation which ended earlier Wednesday. Shoigu said the airman is now "safe and sound" at Russia’s air base in Syria.

Kogi Governorshipp Election: APC to Hold Fresh Primary Election; PDP kicks

The Chairman  of the All Progressives Congress (APC) John Oyegun has said that the APC will conduct a fresh primary election in Kogi State to pick a replacement for late Abubakar Audu.

Abubakar Audu, who passed away on Sunday, was the APC candidate in the November 21 inconclusive Kogi State governorship election, thereby throwing up fresh legal and political firestorm in the state.

While speaking with journalists at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, APC National Chairman John Oyegun said the decision to hold a fresh primary was taken after the party received a letter from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) asking it to replace Audu.

The INEC decision followed a pronouncement to that effect by the Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami.

While the APC welcomed the decision, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP demanded Malami’s resignation as it described the decision as an affront to democracy laced with mines to torpedo the democratic choice of the people in Kogi State.

Also, while APC, ahead of the December 5 supplementary polls to conclude the governorship election, has proposed fresh primaries to throw up a replacement for late Audu t,here was also a cloud on whether it would be restricted to only those who bought the initial forms or opened up to new entrants, a possibility that could draw in Audu’s running mate, Rep. James Faleke and Alhaji Isah Jibrin Echocho who recently defected from the PDP after a stormy political battle with the incumbent governor, Captain Idris Wada.

Protest in Chicago after the release of a video showing police officer shooting black teen 16 times

Protesters largely honored calls for restraint Tuesday after the release of a dash-cam video showing a a white Chicago police officer shooting and killing a black teenager, with few arrests reported and only brief disruptions to city traffic.

City officials and community leaders had long braced for the footage of the death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald at the hands of Officer Jason Van Dyke, who was charged with murder earlier Tuesday. They feared the kind of turmoil that occurred in cities such as Baltimore and Ferguson, Missouri, after young black men were slain by police or died in police custody. Shortly after the video's release, protesters began marching through city streets. Several hundred people blocked traffic on the near West Side. Some circled police cars in an intersection and chanted "16 shots."

Demonstrators, at times numbering in the hundreds, streamed through streets in the downtown and near South Side areas, gathering at one point outside the police department's District 1 headquarters.

Focus On The Economy’ - PDP Charges New Ministers Says Nigerians Will No Longer Condone Propaganda, Lies And Deceit

The Peoples Democratic Party has charged the in-coming cabinet of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government to quickly settle down, move fast and focus on the economy.

In a Press Statement released today by Chief Olisa Metuh who is the PDP National Publicity Secretary, said economy must be given urgent and due attention.

The party said that the present administration has so far played heavily on dramatizing routine procedures and processes, which was even glaring in the prolonged swearing-in ceremony of the ministers.

Metuh  on Wednesday said the much-expected assignment of portfolios to the ministers did not inspire confidence that there is indeed any change being introduced in the system.

The party said with the inauguration, the APC administration should fully resolve the issues on the actual position of the nation’s economy and the direction therein

“Whereas President Muhammadu Buhari had announced that the nation is bankrupt to the extent he cannot pay his ministers, his new Minister of Information had contradicted him directly by stating how the government is buoyant and ready to deploy $2.5 billion infrastructure fund, saved N1.4 trillion with another N2.5 trillion ready as special intervention fund, which goes to say that the country is not actually broke.

U-17 ALL-AFRICAN FINAL: MALI VS NIGERIA

Defending champions Nigeria and impressive outsiders Mali overcame Mexico and Belgium respectively in the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015 to advance to the final.

In just their fourth appearance at this level, Les Aiglonnets have achieved a feat that no other Malian national side at any age category has ever managed: progressing to the showpiece match of a FIFA-run tournament.

They were made to work hard for their reward, however, as the Belgians went toe-to-toe with them for large portions of the match. Lady Luck also played her part in the Africans’ victory, when a seemingly harmless long ball bamboozled the Belgian goalkeeper and allowed them to take a 2-1 lead.

BAD MARKET AGAIN!!! Saraki Must Face Code of Conduct Tribunal Says Federal High Court!

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has dismissed the appeal by the Senate president, Bukola Saraki

Senator Saraki's appeal to stop his trial at the Court of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) failed as Justice Ibrahim Baba held that the court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the application.

This is the fourth court Saraki has run to since the tribunal began his arraignment. An appeal court in Abuja had dismissed a similar petition last month and the Supreme Court has got a file from Saraki’s lawyers seeking to declare that the CCT cannot continue with the case, given all kinds of cited technicalities.

What PDP Want From Buhari; Resignation!!!

The Peoples Democratic Party Media Watchdog (PDPMW) has called for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari in response to his admission that his age will limit his performance.

The group in reaction to the statement said the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Buhari are a gang of hypocrites and liars.

In a statement obtained by Nigerian Bulletin, the PDP decried Buhari’s statement. The statement which was released by the head Tunde Lawal.

“The PDP is again vindicated by this confession from President Muhammadu Buhari and many more that are yet to come.

Nigerians will recall that during the presidential campaigns, the PDP and other well meaning Nigerians complained on the choice of sponsoring Pa. Muhammadu Buhari as Presidential Candidate of APC and the effect it will have on the country when it comes to managing the affairs of a multi dimensional nation like Nigeria, but the APC and its leaders said that age is just a number.

Saraki Shenanigan: Something Needs to Change

I have often wondered what we need to do, judicially, to get some sense of semblance moving in the direction of arresting impunity in Nigeria and somehow bringing sanity back to public life. The sense of fatalistic helplessness in the country worry many so much. When I wrote my novel, Together Unto Eden, the crux of that tale was less about love but Nigeria's descent into moral and developmental irredeemability.
