Osun Victory: Aregbesola and Civl servants

The gubernatorial election in Osun has come and gone and the good people of the State of Osun has once again decided who lead them for the next four years, but as the celebration continue across the nooks and corners of the State our observation revealed that the civil servants remain unhappy except few as they find it difficult to join the common people in celebrating the victory of the people’s governor.

Yes, while some believe that the ethic of the civil servant job does not permit them to participate in full politics but considering how the present government/administration under the leadership of Aregbesola took care of the civil servants in the State one will believe that the later should celebrate the re-election of Ogbeni than the common people.

FAREWELL SPEECH BY CHIEF BISI AKANDE, INTERIM NATIONAL CHAIRMAN,ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC

FAREWELL SPEECH BY CHIEF BISI AKANDE, INTERIM NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC, AT THE INAUGURAL CONVENTION HELD IN ABUJA ON JUNE 14TH, 2015.

Fellow party men and women,

Let me start by congratulating you all on this historic occasion - the first convention of our great party since the consummation of our merger on April 18th 2013.

It has been a long journey to come this far, but we are here, thanks to your commitment, your loyalty and above all your hard work. The journey has been long, but arriving at this stop has made it worth the while. Let me make it clear that this is but a stop in our steady and progressive march to Aso Rock next year.

When we consummated our merger, we said the aim of that historic and unprecedented achievement is to create a credible, alternative platform for Nigerians who are tired of the perpetual misrule of the PDP. Now, I can say clearly that Nigerians heard us clearly, and have reacted by joining our party in huge numbers. Our membership registration attests to this.

APC Congresses: Aggrieved Members Drag Tinubu, Akande, Others to court

Some aggrieved leaders of the All Progressives Congress have dragged a national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, its National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, the Independent National Electoral Commission and two others to court alleging imposition of candidates in the just-concluded congresses of the party in Lagos State.

The plaintiffs, Mr. Akinniyi Akinsiju, Michael Ajayi and three others, filed the suit on behalf of members of the New Lagos Movement, a faction of the party. In the suit filed at the Federal High Court, Lagos on Monday, the claimants alleged that the defendants imposed their cronies as against candidates who contested and won party offices in the ward, local and state congresses held in April.

IGE'S NOLI PROSEQUI MURDER CASE AND IYIOLA OMISORE GUBA RACE IN OSUN STATE

I ask myself,(I am only thinking aloud) so; any one irrespective of one’s political putrefied antecedent can aspire for governor of the state of Osun… Yes of course! I supplied answer within my mind, since the constitution guaranteed such right. Iyiola Omisore can definitely contest.

It was a sadden news that continues to flash across the memories of people… the murder of Chief Bola Ige. A few professionals are more successful and beneficial to the society than “IGE”, a renowned advocate that was prominent in the Nigeria politics. He was the Attorney General and Minister of Justice when he was murdered in his own house. The relevancy of this line of story is the connection of Iyiola Omisore with the murder of IGE, he was one of the suspect and was arrested and triled in court. He was discharged and not acquitted through what is refers to as NOLI PROSEQUI, it is a power granted to the Attorney General of the state and the Federation to terminate criminal trial at any point before the judgement. This constitutional power I considered as obnoxious which will really be used for good.

I have said it time without numbers that this species of naked power will be miss use at the expense of our the society, with this power of NULI, politician can commit all crimes in this world and get away with. It is such a useful power for the political murderers. When a serious crime which is connected to the Attorney General of both the state and federation like the murder of IGE is untimely terminated with power of NULI, it is just a discharge and not acquittal, it means the charge can still be brought against such an accuse which means the film still continue and the story line is still lengthy. It is a trite in Law that accuse is presumed innocent until contrary in proven Sec 36(5) CFRN, meanwhile, it is common witty saying that there is no smoke without fire.
