The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a video clip in which two soldiers were seen maltreating a physically challenged person for allegedly wearing a camouflage shirt.

We wish to inform the public that the incident took place on Tuesday 7th February 2017, at Onitsha, Anambra State.

In line with our zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline and unprofessional conducts especially in relation to violation of human rights, we wish to further state that the soldiers involved have since been identified and apprehended.

In another rollout of one of the Social Investment Programmes of the Buhari administration, the National Homegrown School Feeding scheme has entered implementation stage with the feeding of primary school pupils in Anambra State today.

3 ARRESTED IN ENUGU FOR IMPERSONATING EFCC ACTING CHAIRMAN, IBRAHIM MAGU

The Enugu Zonal office of the EFCC has arrested three persons: Chukwuma Charles Eze, Ogechi Emeka Okwuosa and Anokwuru Miriam Iheoma, (F) in a case of impersonation and attempt to obtain money by false pretences from the Anambra State Secretary to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Prince Casmir I. Ajulu. 

The arrest of the trio came on the heels of a petition that a text message was purportedly sent on 26th March, 2016 by the Acting Executive Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu to Ajulu’s phone requesting him to send a list of names of House of Representatives designates that want their Certificate of Return for the last election held in Anambra State. 

Several subsequent messages from two mobile numbers belonging to Glo and MTN network respectively demanded from the petitioner the sum of N16,0000,000.00 (Sixteen Million Naira Only) assuring him that the EFCC Chairman was in touch and working with the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). 

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL’S CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY AGAINST THE NIGERIAN ARMY ON MASSOB/IPOB VIOLENT PROTEST IN ONITSHA AND ENVIRONS UNCOVERED

1.The attention of the 82 Division, Nigerian Army has been drawn to a planned release of report by Amnesty International on the recent violent activities by IPOB and MASSOB on 31st May 2016 in which they were alleging that the Nigerian Army planned the killing of the protesters. This is not true but the usual calculated attempt to rubbish the Security forces in particular and the Nigerian Army just to remain relevant.

2. It should be noted that the Non-governmental organization has always been of the habit of being the judge and jury in matters of our national security without recourse to fairness, objectivity, all aimed at rubbishing the Nigerian Army for reasons best known to them. This could not be far from trying albeit unsuccessfully to be relevant and justify funding.

How Bomb Blast Hits Onitsha South LGA, Anambra, 7 Injured

Bomb explosion has hit the  Kara community which iis very  close to the commercial capital of the south east region of the country, Onitsha, Anambra State. 

Kara community in Ogbaru, a town close to Onitsha in Anambra state was yesterday hit by a bomb blast at around 8:00pm. According to eyewitness reports, the bomb went off in a local restuarant and was detonated by a middle aged man believed to have been from the Northern part of the country.

The eyewitness accounted that: “The bomber is a man who came to the area, mostly populated by Northerners, and asked for a restaurant to eat for N150. He was directed to the eatery where he dropped his bag and asked for food. He ended up taking a few spoons of the food and leaving the place,

Former Information minister, Dora Akunyili is dead

A Nigerian former Information minister, Dora Akunyili, is dead. A close family source confirmed Mrs. Akunyili’s death. 

Adding that she died Saturday morning in an Indian hospital of a yet to be announced ailment.

Her close political ally and the former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, as well as her spokesperson, Isaac Umunna did not respond to telephone calls for further confirmation.

Her family is expected to make an official announcement of her death in the coming hours.

Mrs. Akunyili is considered as Nigeria’s most effective drugs and food administration executive. 

Osun, Ekiti Guber Polls: US Condemns Message Of Violence By Political Parties

The United States Government has condemned what it described as message of violence by some political leaders in Nigeria as the people prepare to vote in the June 21 and August 9 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States respectively.

Also, the guest speaker at the sensitisation workshop for Ekiti State political parties and other stakeholders in 2014 gubernatorial election, Kunle Fagbemi, noted that for democracy to work, everybody must agree to accept the results of a free and fair election, while all contestants are also expected to relate with one another in a good sportsmanship atmosphere.

The US Ambassador to Nigeria,.. reffery Hawkins, in his goodwill message at the workshop said it was worrisome that political leaders were sending the message of ‘rig and roast’ as the elections approach, saying such would not augur well for peaceful conduct of the elections.
According to him, "Rig and roast is not the kind of message Nigerian youths should hear from their leaders."

One Week Ultimatum: De-register APC or Face Court Action - IPAC Chairman Tells INEC

Chairman of the Anambra State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Chief Ken Emeakayi, has faulted the registration as a political party of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The IPC Chairman said the APC has breached several sections of the Constitution and the Electoral Act that it ought not to have been registered. Emeakayi told newsmen in Abuja said the APC also breached the IPAC code of conduct by overheating the polity and consistently attacking President Goodluck Jonathan, some members of his cabinet and National Publicity Secretary of the PDP.

There is nothing to worry about my health – Dora Akunyili

A former Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, has dismissed media speculations that she’s currently battling with a strange ailment outside the country. The former NAFDAC DG was apparently reacting to her controversial picture which generated buzz on the blogsphere on Tuesday.

Akunyili, who was one of the delegates representing Anambra State at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja while reacting via a Facebook post on Tuesday said there is nothing to worry about her present health status, adding that she has since recovered from the illness and has been declared fit by the Doctors, who said she can take part in the ongoing national confab.


The former Minister however, did not give further details about her illness, but she admitted that it made her “shed much weight,” but she needed to add up.

Akunyili in a post entitled, “I am well, fit and ready for the National Conference,” called on Nigerians not to forget her in their daily prayers.

Osun, Ekiti People ‘ll Resist Election Rigging – Fani-Kayode

Former minister of aviation and tourism, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has declared that unlike what obtained in Anambra State, the people of Osun and Ekiti states will resist any attempt to rig the forthcoming governorship election in favour of any political party.

Speaking yesterday in Osogbo at the Osun State personality interview forum “News Point”, Fani-Kayode noted that Yoruba people are known for their aversion to cheating from any quarters.
He called on the nation`s electorate to reject Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in 2015, saying another mandate for the party would spell doom for Nigeria.

He also accused President Goodluck Jonathan`s government of promoting corruption, fanning the ember of ethnicity, poor management and increasing tension in the country, adding that his government has failed woefully to address the myriad of problems bedevilling the nation since its inception.

He said the ship of the nation is heading towards the rock, noting that Nigerians are now more divided than before in terms of ethnicity and religion.

His words: “Since his inception of office, crimes have been on the increase. Boko Haram members are killing people as at least 7,000 innocent people have been killed, and nothing has been done by the president to stop the killings. Kidnapping is on the rise; baby factories have developed in the land; the conclusion is that all is not well with this nation.

“In the economic sector, he met a robust economy when he came on board four years ago. The total debt of Nigeria when President Obasanjo came on board was $30billion, but the total debt was wiped out before he left government; this shows that Nigeria had 0% debt profile. This has never happened in the history of this country and even in Africa.

“Five years after, the total debt of this country is now $20billion. This shows that our children have been enslaved and the future generation enslaved too.”
