WHY EDE INDIGENES PROTEST DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURES

Indigenes of Abere community in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State staged a protest against the demolition of some buildings in the community which the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation started on Monday morning.

The protesters, who barricaded the road and made bonfires on the road connecting Osogbo to Gbongan stopped the ministry officials from carrying on with the demolition.

One of the buildings was already destroyed when the indigenes trooped out and stopped the government officials from continuing with the exercise.

The Nigerian Vice and Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has reacted to the potesting Nigerians that the Federal Government Heard them Loud and Clear.

The Acting President who made statement on his Facebook wall said: "To those who are protesting, WE HEAR YOU loud and clear, those who are on the streets protesting the economic situation and even those who are not, but feel the pain of economic hardship. We hear you loud and clear. You deserve a decent life and and we are working night and day to make life easier."

Osun is broke but people don’t believe because of the massive infrastructure I built - Aregbesola

Rauf Aregbesola, governor of Osun state, on Tuesday said people find it difficult to believe that the state is facing serious economic challenges because of the massive infrastructural projects undertaken by his administration. Maintaining that Osun is not the only state experiencing tough times, Aregbesola said the country must learn some lessons from the current situation.

He said this when he played host to the team of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Osogbo, led by Omowumi Omidiji, its new general manager.

Again!!! Osun APC begs FG for fresh bailout

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has appealed to the Federal Government to assist states owing their workers to defray the salary arrears.

The Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of the APC in the state, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, who said this in a statement made available to Journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday said the FG should help the states even if they have to source for fund from the external reserves.

The party said states appreciated the bailout given to them last year by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, but stressed that they needed another bailout from the FG to save them from the salary crisis.

Osun House of Assembly to pass a bill to curb street hawking and illegal market set up

The Speaker of the state of Osun House of Assembly, Najeem Folasayo Salaam,  said the state House of Assembly is ready to put an end to street trading and illegal markets in the state. 

This was disclosed during the consideration of a bill on street trading and illegal markets set up on Thursday, March 24, at Osogbo, the Osun capital. 

Salaam stressed that it would be an offence for any person or group of persons to engage in street hawking or operate in illegal markets in the state once the bill becomes law. He said the law would promote the cleanliness of the state stating that this was one of the major aims of the government. 

Seizure Report from Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Custom Service

1. On 7th of March 2016, a DAF 85 Truck with reg. no. LSR 933 XB was intercepted along Osogbo axis coveying 400 (50kg) bags of smuggled rice and 290 (25 ltrs) of vegetable oil.

2. On 18th March 2016, a Toyota Dyna Truck suspected to have been smuggled into the country without payment of duty was impounded along Fiditi, Oyo State.


3. On 20th & 21st March 2016, 50 (50kg) bags of smuggled rice were intercepted along Igboho/Adafila and Igbeti axis respectively.

4. A Volvo Truck with reg. no. KWL 777 AH conveying used tyres and other uncustoms goods was also intercepted

The Command has made total of 30 detentions and 10 seizures so far in the month of March with a Duty Paid Value of N19,744,965.

Aregbesola's Fifth Year Anniversary: Gains and Prospects for Future By Badru Asimiyu

BREAKING NEWS: OSUN ELECTION TRIBUNAL DISMISSES OMISORE'S CASE FOR LACK OF MERIT

The election petition tribunal sitting in Osogbo, the Osun state capital has dismissed the petition filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in that last year state governorship election which saw the incumbent governor of the state Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola retained the seat for the next four years.

Contrary to the unnecessary and wide jubilation by the PDP supporters  since the both party closed their cases at tribunal and yesterday in Osogbo, the Tribunal dismissed the petition for lack of merit in all ramification and that the incumbent is duly and validly elected.


The Leading tribunal member, Justice Elizabeth Ipejime on Friday at the High Court in Osogbo declared  governor Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress winner of the election tribunal.

Aregbesola who had defeated PDP’s Senator Iyiola Omisore during the polls with 392, 284 votes to 292, 742 votes but the results were contested by Omisore and the Peoples Democratic Party.

Both Aregbesola and Omisore were absent in court but were ably represented by their party’s agents.


On allegations of over-voting, the Tribunal ruled that no single evidence of over-voting was proved by the petitioners.

On allegation of using O'Yes as INEC officials, there is no such evidence on record as what they have are two O'Yes member who testified as agent and not INEC official

The tribunal ruled that the Petitioners failed to prove allegations of improper accreditation.

On the allegation of non stamping of result by the Petitioners, the Tribunal ruled that the result sheets were properly signed and stamped.

On the allegations of intimidation and prevention of people from voting, the tribunal ruled that there was no evidence to that effect.

Also, the Tribunal ruled that there is nothing expert in the so called expert witness report.

On the complaints that INEC did not call witness, the Tribunal ruled that the petitioners is duty bound to discharge the onus to prove the allegations.

In this case the petitioners failed to prove their allegations to warrant INEC calling evidence.

Osun Election: Military are Hellbent To Truncate This Democracy - YRG

It is obvious that the military are hellbent to truncate the Nigeria  Democracy as their current unprofessional and partisan position in Osun state have indicated.

With the manner in which the security agents deployed for the Osun Governorship election, especially the soldiers and the SSS, are going about arresting, harassing and intimidating the targeted political leaders and supporters of  of the APC, there is certainly going to be an unprecedented revolt if the military men and SSS don't retreat  in their attempt to coerce the people in favour of the PDP candidate, Sen. Iyiola Omisore.

Youth Reformation group, Nigeria (YRG NIGERIA) in a statement has accused Security agents  of embarking on an all effort to truncate the Nigeria Democracy adding that the group will not accept any thing less that free, fair and credible Governorship poll in Osun state.

OSUN ELECTION: ARMY ARREST APC LEADERS, SUPPORTERS ACROSS THE STATE

Barely few hours to the Osun Poll, many of the APC leaders and supporters have been arrested by the real  and fake men in military Uniform.


While soldiers at the campus gate of Ilesa College arrested student leaders including the Ilesa SUG president and NANS JCC officers of Osun Axis as well as many others in the early hours of yesterday, Military men or fake military man have this morning arrested the Honourable Folarin Fafora representing Ilesa West Local Government in the Osun state House of Assembly. Honourable Fafiyebi representing Obokun state constituency was also arrrested by the men in military uniforms

The Commissioner for Agric, Honourable Wale Adedoyin was also reportedly arrested by the soldiers.

In Edeland, a local government party chairman and one other person was also arrested.

President Jonathan, Nigeria's number one enemy - APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described President Goodluck Jonathan as Nigeria's number one enemy because of his propensity to perpetrate impunity, abuse federal institutions and tolerate corruption, all in a dangerous clamour to win re-election at all costs.

In a statement issued in Osogbo on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said under President Jonathan's watch, Nigeria has been thrown into unprecedented crisis that is manifesting in the opposition strongholds of Rivers, Edo, Adamawa and Nasarawa States and elsewhere across the country.

The President has also abused national institutions perhaps more than any other President in Nigeria's history, deploying the police and the army to intimidate and harass ordinary citizens in general and opposition supporters in particular, as he did recently in Ekiti and he is allegedly planning to do in Osun state; shutting airports at will just to punish the opposition and muscling the electoral commission, INEC, to prevent incorruptible RECs from conducting elections, it said.

EDE RALLY: Osun PDP Cried Out!

Osun PDP cried out last night in an urgent meeting held by their party stewards in Osogbo. The caucus meeting lambasted Adejare for fake reporting of his grip on Ede town which is against the reality on ground as confirmed by the intimidating acceptance of Aregbesola in the ancient town during his rally at Ede yesterday.

A frustrated strong PDP financier raised his voice; no, no, no way, no way! You cannot rent that kind of crowds anywhere. Ede is not what Adejare called it. We shouldn't have allowed Alhaji Adeleke to decamp. This doesn't sounds good for PDP unless we are deceiving ourselves.

My take: With this intimidating turn out of Ede rally of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the rejected stone of the PDP, Serubawon Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, something is wrong somewhere. I thought they say Adeleke is not relevant in Edeland again.

To senator Iyiola Omisore, don't allow the sycophants to deceive you that all is well. I also saw the Osogbo crowd that welcome the governor back to Osogbo. When Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola said he is on the street, he was very sure of this assertion.

We have seen them (PDP) moving out of Osogbo the state capital daily to their campaigns without a single accolade from the ordinary people on the street. Yet they delude themselves of imaginable popularity.

This is Ogbeni on the street of Osogbo on his way from re-election rally in Ede. For a man they see everyday to still get this kind of reception from the state capital shows how much Rauf has invested in the ordinary people.

August 9 is the date when it will be finally clear to the PDP jesters that their party has gone to the dustbin of history and never again will they find any space in our consciousness.

Armed Soldiers Invade Newspaper Centres In Osun

Armed soldiers on Friday invaded Newspapers’ distribution centres in Osun State for a-yet-to be ascertained alleged implicating report.

The soldiers who stormed the centre as early as 6am in a truck approached the newspaper distributors and sales agents looking for the incriminating reports in some newspapers.

But the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State chapter in a swift reaction condemned the act saying the action was akin to the dark days of the military era in the country when press was subjected to humiliation.

Deji Elumoye, the chairman of the union said, NUJ noted the development with concerns saying similar actions by the soldiers were reported in some states.

Aregbesola Spends N2.5b On Channelisation

Osun State Government, yesterday, said it has spent about N2.5billion on dredging of waterways and canals to ensure free-flow of water and save the state from flooding.

Speaking to newsmen on the occasion of World Environment Day in Osogbo, the Osun State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Professor Bukola Oyawoye, said that in the last three and half years, the present government has taken necessary precautions to ensure a flood-free raining season in the state.

Oyawoye added that apart from clearing waterways, the administration has also embarked on sensitisation of the populace on the dangers of dumping refuse on water paths.

Federal High Court: Osun To Get 27 Lawmakers In 2015

A federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun state capital has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct separate election into Orolu and Irepodun State Constituencies in the State House of Assembly in 2015 general election.

Both Orolu and Irepodun local government areas of the state are currently represented by a lawmaker in the state House of Assembly making 26 lawmakers in the assembly.

Going by the court order, Osun state would now have 27 27 lawmakers in the State House of Assembly come 2015.

Osun Guber Poll: Akande, Arergbesola Welcome Adeleke To APC (PHOTOS)

Former Governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke has finally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress, APC, today at the Freedom Park in Osogbo , Osun state.

The Former Governor of the state and National interim Chairman of the party, Chief Adebisi Akande and the incumbent governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf adesoji Aregbesola as well as the crowd members of the party welcomed the former Governor Isiaka Adeleke to the fold of the Progressive party called APC.
The immediate pass Governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola may also join the APC soon.

Kidnappers Burnt To Death In Osogbo, Osun State

The attention of the government of the State of Osun has been drawn to shocking cases of jungle justice at the State capital Osogbo allegedly melted out to some individuals suspected to be kidnappers.

Reports at the disposal of the government indicate some barbaric administration of jungle justice by irate mobs against those accused of some nefarious activities in different locations at the state capital.

Reports has it that between Thursday night and the early morning or Friday, two suspected kidnappers have been burnt to death by an angry mobs in Osogbo, the Osun state capital

But while its very important to be  more security conscious than ever and to always be on alert. The citizens need to cooperate with the police and other agencies to protect law and order and as case may be they shouldn't take the law into their hands for such could also be criminal.

Killing these suspects can also result to a kind of cover up for those who are the brain behind the evil acts.
