AREGBESOLA AND THE ASTRONOMICAL INCREMENT IN LEGAL FILLING FEES By: Olayimika Chocomilo

Wickedness was like food: once you got started it was hard to stop; the gut extended to take in more and more
John Updike
Gov. Aregbesola

In states where oppositions are weak, fragile, and clueless; does not have the needed resources and will to tackle, oppose, criticise and condemn obnoxious policies of the ruling party; citizens of such states would live in fear and injustice will always prevail.

It is unfortunate that Osun state government is one of those state governments that play on the weakness of the opposition, ignorance of the people and fear of her citizens.

It is disheartening to see opposition who ought to be responsible for condemnation and tackling of these obnoxious policies in a state of “political coma”; a state where internal burden of this party is greater than the excesses of our dear state.

Lagos @ 50’ celebrations: OSUN TO SUPPORT LAGOS ON CALISTHENICS TRAINING

The Lagos State Government on Monday said its training of students and youths on fundamentals of calisthenics was being done in partnership with the Osun State Government.

The Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, who spoke on the partnership while receiving a six-man delegation from Osun in her office at Alausa, said that the training in calisthenics would help in developing the students mentally, physically and socially.

Calisthenics consists of a variety of movements often performed rhythmical and usually conducted in concerts with stretches to depict specific symbols.

Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi: I AM the STATE!

The encounter, a few days ago, between the Governor of Oyo State and students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) accurately and unfortunately validates the points I made in this piece I wrote in June 2016: http://saharareporters.com/…/emperor-ajimobi-and-mujahid-ar….
For those who may not have seen the full video of his exchanges with the students, just understand that LAUTECH, co-owned by the Oyo and Osun state governments, has been shut down for the past eight (8!) months, and the students went to protest (show their displeasure) to Ajimobi. They were not blocking traffic and neither were they destroying any property. They were just chanting their "aluta" songs. To his credit, Ajimobi, according to him, heard about the protest and hurriedly left a meeting he was chairing to address the students.

But some of the students would not have any of his usually bullish I-am-Ajimobi-the-Governor-so-you-must-respect-me attitude. They interrupted him several times with their insulting songs. This caused the ultra-arrogant governor to taunt the students and egg them on to foment trouble and threaten them with consequences. He dismissed them as non-students and demanded an apology from them just like he did from those secondary school students who went on rampage the other time for, among other things, the non-payment of salaries of their teachers. Remember that on that occasion too, he shut the schools for several weeks until he got his apology.

Having been branded the poorest state of the federation in terms of Federal Allocations and Internally-Generated ‎Revenue (IGR), Osun State government has made frantic effort to resuscitate moribund Osun Cocoa Product Industry in Ede, established in 1982 to create wealth and job opportunities for teeming jobless indigenes of the state.

The government’s desire to create… Read More

Aregbesola Spends N2.5b On Channelisation

Osun State Government, yesterday, said it has spent about N2.5billion on dredging of waterways and canals to ensure free-flow of water and save the state from flooding.

Speaking to newsmen on the occasion of World Environment Day in Osogbo, the Osun State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Professor Bukola Oyawoye, said that in the last three and half years, the present government has taken necessary precautions to ensure a flood-free raining season in the state.

Oyawoye added that apart from clearing waterways, the administration has also embarked on sensitisation of the populace on the dangers of dumping refuse on water paths.
