Osun House of Assembly to pass a bill to curb street hawking and illegal market set up

The Speaker of the state of Osun House of Assembly, Najeem Folasayo Salaam,  said the state House of Assembly is ready to put an end to street trading and illegal markets in the state. 

This was disclosed during the consideration of a bill on street trading and illegal markets set up on Thursday, March 24, at Osogbo, the Osun capital. 

Salaam stressed that it would be an offence for any person or group of persons to engage in street hawking or operate in illegal markets in the state once the bill becomes law. He said the law would promote the cleanliness of the state stating that this was one of the major aims of the government.

Mrs. Bola Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, wife of Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun on Monday joined hundreds of women in Abeokuta the Ogun State capital, to protest the abduction of over 200 school girls in Chibok, Borno State.

The protest which the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Lawson, members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, market women and female artisans also took part in, started at about 8am at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Kuto area and from there, the women moved through IBB Boulevard and ended at the Ogun State House of Assembly complex, where the governor's wife presented their protest letter to the Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi, to deliver to President Jonathan.
