President Muhammadu Buhari extends heartfelt condolences to the family of Major-General Emmanuel Abisoye (Rtd), former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2nd Infantry Division and 3rd Infantry Division of the Nigerian Army, who has passed away at the age of 81.

The President also commiserates with the government and people of Kogi State on the death of their illustrious son, a former Federal Commissioner for Health and member of the Supreme Military Council.

Governor Ajimobi Presents N207bn Budget of Self-Reliance

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Thursday presented a total budget of N207.671 billion for the 2017 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, which represents an increase of 19.13 per cent compared to the 2016 budget.

The governor, while presenting the budget titled “Budget of Self Reliance”, explained that the recurrent expenditure will cost N126.87 billion which is 61.09 per cent of the budget while the capital expenditure will take N80.80 billion or 38.91%.

Governor Ajimobi stated that Personnel Cost, made up of Salaries, Allowances and Promotion Arrears stands at N56.04 Billion or 26.99 per cent while overhead cost accounts for N20.04Billion which is 9.75%, adding that N50.79bn or 24.45 is meant for the Consolidate Revenue Fund Charges to sum up the total Recurrent Expenditure of N126.87 billion.

The President reiterates that the patriotism and commitment displayed by Chief Oyebola in nation building has been clearly demonstrated in his early participation in politics, and relentless pursuit of justice and fairness in joining NADECO and Afenifere during the troubling times in Nigeria’s democracy.

THE HYPOCRISY OF APC LEADERS ON TRUE FEDERALISM

The issue of True Federalism was once the major objective of the opposition party. And its proponents were from various parts of the country. Fiscal Federalism was therefore not even a regional ideology. It was a national concept championed by opposition men such as El Rufai, Tinubu, Atiku and even Muhammadu Buhari. In March 2011, the then presidential aspirant of the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC), General Muhamadu Buhari (rtd) stormed Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, promising to practice true federalism if elected into office.

It is indeed confusing to see all these men who once believed in the power of true federalism become mute upon gaining control of the central government. One would believe that true federalism would become the impressum of their government. Alas; they have all gone mute. President Buhari who once preached about fiscal federalism in soliciting for South-West vote did not even have the courage to mention the word ‘fiscal-federalism’ in his inauguration speech. And the rest of leaders agreed with him. Is this not the height of national hypocrisy and deceit?

For we are witnessing a pattern of seemingly well-orchestrated violence whose legacy of death and hate may likely pit the south of the country against the north, with predictable consequences for our nation’s peace, unity and stability should it be allowed to fester any longer.

Six soldiers court-martialled in Ibadan for murder, sexual relationship with spouses of other military personnel

Six soldiers, including a major, captain and two lieutenants, are currently standing trial before a general court martial at 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo, Ibadan, Oyo State, for alleged offences ranging from murder to sexual relationship with spouses of other military personnel.

The military men appeared before a six-man panel set up by the General Officer Commanding for the division, Major General Laz Ilo. Other alleged offences preferred against the accused soldiers include manslaughter, stealing and negligence of performance of military duties.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said his administration was determined to recover money stolen by former public officers to create jobs for the nation’s teeming unemployed youths. The President said this at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Gbakuta, Iseyin, Oyo State during the swearing-in of Batch ‘A’ corps members posted to the state.

Buhari, whose speech was read by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sport, Ololade Agboola, said recovered funds would be used to create jobs.  “One of the disturbing problems inherited by this administration is increasing unemployment amongst young people.

Seizure Report from Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Custom Service

1. On 7th of March 2016, a DAF 85 Truck with reg. no. LSR 933 XB was intercepted along Osogbo axis coveying 400 (50kg) bags of smuggled rice and 290 (25 ltrs) of vegetable oil.

2. On 18th March 2016, a Toyota Dyna Truck suspected to have been smuggled into the country without payment of duty was impounded along Fiditi, Oyo State.


3. On 20th & 21st March 2016, 50 (50kg) bags of smuggled rice were intercepted along Igboho/Adafila and Igbeti axis respectively.

4. A Volvo Truck with reg. no. KWL 777 AH conveying used tyres and other uncustoms goods was also intercepted

The Command has made total of 30 detentions and 10 seizures so far in the month of March with a Duty Paid Value of N19,744,965.

Nigeria Military to protect Ploice Facilities Across the Country as Boko Haram attack Gwoza Police Training Academy

Following an attack on one of the country’s foremost police training institutions, the Police Academy, Gwoza, Borno State by Boko Haram on Wednesday, the Nigeria Police has reached out to the military to protect its facilities in the North.

The military would deploy soldiers to guard police barracks, primary and secondary schools, as well as its training colleges. Besides the college at Gwoza, other NPF training institutions in the country include the police colleges in Jos, Plateau State; Ikeja, Lagos State; Kaduna, Kaduna State; Maiduguri, Borno State; Oji-River and Police Detective College, Enugu; as well as the Police College of Information Technology, Abeokuta.

Others are the Police Mobile Training School, Ila-Orangun, Osun State; Mounted/Dog Training Schools, Jos, Plateau State; Traffic Training School, Ikeja; the Police School of Music, Ikeja; Police Schools of Communication, Ikeja, Lagos and Kaduna; the Police School of Anti-Terrorism, Nonwa-Tai, Rivers State; the Police Training School, Sokoto; Police Training School, Bauchi; Police Training School, Minna, Niger State; and Police Training School, Jos.

State creation divides delegates; Senate confirms Shekarau, Adeyeye others, as ministers

The clamour for state creation pitted delegates against one another at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja. Intensive debate on Wednesday greeted the Report of the National Conference Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government, presented to the Conference on Tuesday by the Committee’s co-chairmen, General Ike Nwachukwu and Hon Mohammed Kumalia.

Although the Committee’s recommendations are yet to be adopted by the Conference, high on the list is the creation of additional state for the South East geo-political zone, to place it on the same level with other zones.

Some delegates claimed that it was wrong for the Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government to have recommended for the creation of one state for the South-East alone without anything for the other zones.

The United States of America has faulted threat comments by top Nigerian politicians, including the leader of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Bola Tinubu, ahead of the forthcoming elections in Ekiti
and Osun States.

While the governorship election in Ekiti State is expected to hold on June 21, that of Osun is scheduled to hold on August 9. It would be recalled that Tinubu had during his investiture as Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, threatened that riggers in the elections would be roasted.

Nigerian soldiers prevent distribution of Vanguard Newspaper in Ibadan, S/South, S/East

Nigerian Soldiers have prevented the distribution of today’s edition of Vanguard newspaper in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, just as the circulation vehicles going to the South South and South East with the papers were stopped at Ore and Warri in Ondo and Delta states respectively.

In a similar report, soldiers mounting a roadblock close to the tollgate along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway blocked the Leadership newspaper’s van heading to Kaduna and confiscated the entire consignment of the paper. The driver of the vehicle as well as another staff were also detained, with their telephones seized.

The soldiers have however cordoned off all roads leading to Oke Padre, a major distribution point for newspapers and magazines in the South West.

Ibadan Customary Court grants wife divorce over husband’s impotence

A Customary Court in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital has on Wednesday dissolved the four-year-old marriage between Lateef Amzat and his wife, Romoke, over the impotence of the husband. The Presiding President of the court, Chief Henric Agbaje, said that he had no option than to dissolve the marriage because there was no longer love between the duo.

Presiding judge said that the evidence before the court showed that the couple were no longer interested in the marriage, saying that the court had previously gave the couple two weeks of grace to resolve their differences amicably but they did not reach any accord. “Therefore, in the interest of peace and order, I pronounce the marriage dissolved since both parties are willing to part ways.

New Horror Forest Uncovered In Ogun State

Less than two weeks after the discovery of the forest of horror in Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State, a similar forest has been discovered — this time in Adigbe area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.


A source in Adigbe told Reporters on the phone that an abducted pregnant woman, who inexplicably made her way out of the forest where she had been held captive, triggered the discovery.

The woman then alerted members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), who in turn alerted the Police.

The Police are currently combing the neighbourhood.

“Policemen are currently in the neighbourhood and there is a crowd already”, the source said”, promising to supply updates as soon as the situation becomes clearer and the scale of the crime going on in the forest is established.

Rioting has erupted outside a building in Ibadan, Oyo state capital,  where human remains were found at the weekend. 20 people are reported to have been injured when dozens were prevented from entering the property – dubbed the “House of Horror”.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, on Monday, led members of the State Executive Council and all the arms of the security agencies in the state and a forensic expert on an on-the-spot assessment of the forest where several decomposing bodies were found and several victims of a kidnap syndicate were rescued at the week-end in Ibadan.

Dungeon Of Death Discovered In Ibadan, Decomposed Bodies, Human Bones, Kidnapped Persons Littered the Area

A death dungeon where scores of kidnapped people had been tortured and died was discovered at the Soka area, a satellite community of Ibadan, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway of Oyo State. According to sources, human skulls, decomposed bodies and various body parts were seen being evacuated from the dungeon.

About 20 bodies of people believed to have been killed for ritual purposes were discovered and 18 men and five women, believed to have been bewitched and bound with fetters in a dungeon, were found and rescued.
