KOGI, IMO RE-RUN ELECTIONS TO HOLD ON 23RD JULY; RIVERS, KANO STATES TO HOLD ON 30TH JULY 2016 SAYS INEC

Following a National Stakeholders’ Forum on the conclusion of the suspended re-run elections in Rivers, Kogi, Imo and Kano States, at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the conduct of the outstanding re-run elections as follows:

Kogi and Imo States to hold 23rd July 2016 while Rivers and Kano States are to hold on 30th July 2016.

Esrlier yesterday, welcoming the stakeholders in her address, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Electoral Operations Committee, Hajiya Amina Bala Zakari said the major Stakeholders in the Electoral Process to this forum called specifically to discuss the conclusion of the suspended re-run legislative elections in Rivers, Imo and Kogi States as well as the by election in Kano.

-Then President Jonathan sacked the President of the Appeal court because he refused to compromise on the case involving the ruling party and ruling that forensic examination be allowed on materials used for the 2011 Presidential election. Even when the NJC asked that he be reinstated, Jonathan refused yet, he is your HERO OF DEMOCRACY.

- All the security details attached to then Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal were withdrawn by the Federal Government led by Jonathan yet, you still didn't see any reason not to worship him.

- For weeks in 2014, the Governor of Kano State kept shouting that security aides posted to watch over the state house were recalled as a result of orders from above, not once did you accuse Jonathan of tyranny.

- For appointing Sanusi Lamido as Emir of Kano which was within the rights and powers of the Kano State Government, Jonathan ordered security agents to lay siege at the Emir's palace. For days, the Emir operated from the Kano State Government House. You didn't call Jonathan by the dictatorship that he was acting out then.

Fashola To Companies - Patronise Local Meter Makers, Says Niger Delta Avengers Responsible for Low Power Supply

Minister of Power, Works and Housing Mr, Babatunde Fashola, has urged electricity distribution companies to patronise local meter manufacturers in the quest for mass metering system of their customers across.

At the 6th Power and Stakeholders Monthly Meeting held on Monday in Kano State, North West Nigeria, the Minister said the patronage of local manufacturers would help avoid foreign exchange problem associated with importation of meters.

Mr Fashola stressed that it would greatly save cost if made in Nigeria meters were patronised, pointing out that it is of same quality with the imported ones.

WHY I WILL RECONTEST IN 2019 — GOODLUCK JONATHAN

Former president Goodluck Jonathan has declared his interest to run for presidency in 2019 in Bayelsa State today. A jubilant crowd erupted as news leaked that the former president would be holding a press briefing this afternoon. In a statement released by his media secretary, the former president said, he has been inundated with calls from famous Nigerians to reconsider and salvage the economy from the current decay under the APC led government.
The statement reads in part: “A while ago I stood at the Eagle Square, to offer myself for election as the President of our beloved country on the platform of our great party; the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). I decided to run for office because of the many troubles our dear country faced. In a hotly contested election, we ‘lost’ the election to the opposition. We would have rejected the election results but decided my personal ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.

Speaker Dogara Condoles with Kano over Students’ Deaths

The House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has condoled with the parents, government and people of Kano state over the loss of students who had gone to represent the state at a quiz competition in Lagos.
Seven Kano State students and their driver who died along Lagos-Ibadan expressway were on Thursday buried in Kano, amid tears. The funeral prayer was conducted at the Emir’s Palace, Kano, around 9 a.m., and the deceased were buried at the Tarauni cemetary.

Among those that attended the prayer were Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the state Executive Council, other top government officials as well as parents and sympathisers.

BREAKING NEWS: INEC suspends Kano state constituency election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has orderd the suspension of the ongoing run-up elections in Kano state. This becomes necessary following the violence, harassment & Intimidation & snatching/destruction of election materials in the Minjibir state constituency election in Kano State today.

INEC after consultation with the security agencies has decided to suspend the election.

A new date will be announced later when INEC is satisfied that conditions are conducive for the safe conduct of the election.

State creation divides delegates; Senate confirms Shekarau, Adeyeye others, as ministers

The clamour for state creation pitted delegates against one another at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja. Intensive debate on Wednesday greeted the Report of the National Conference Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government, presented to the Conference on Tuesday by the Committee’s co-chairmen, General Ike Nwachukwu and Hon Mohammed Kumalia.

Although the Committee’s recommendations are yet to be adopted by the Conference, high on the list is the creation of additional state for the South East geo-political zone, to place it on the same level with other zones.

Some delegates claimed that it was wrong for the Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government to have recommended for the creation of one state for the South-East alone without anything for the other zones.

How Nigeria Police discover 13 bombs in Kano mosque

There was pandemonium on Friday at about 2pm as Kano State Police Command uncovered 13 high caliber Improvised Explosive Devices, known as IEDs, at Sauna Fafunga in the Dakata area of Nasarawa Local Government Area

The incident occurred when Muslims were preparing to observe their Jumat prayers.

The terrorists who had parked a starlet car, ox-blood in colour, at about 2 P.M. near a Juma’at Mosque, had primed the IEDs waiting for the Juma’at prayer to commence before carrying out their act.

It was later learned that a 10-year old boy had notified the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Dakata, Superintendent Sani Ahmed, that he became suspicious and suspected a rickety car parked by the side of the Mosque.

Nigeria Police Arrest Suspected Kano Bomber

The Nigeria Police in Kano State has arrested a suspect in connection with Monday afternoon’s bomb blast at the Kano State School of Hygiene, BUK Road, which killed eight people and injured 12 others.

According to Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, who spoke with journalists briefly after visiting the scene of the crime, investigations will begin immediately on the suspect’s motive for the act.

“The suspect is in our custody, and the vehicle he used for the operation has also been towed to the police headquarters," Shinaba said.

“We will get to know the motive behind the attack, and who sent him on this deadly errand."

New Emir Appointment: PDP represents all that is evil and wrong about our nation - El-Rufai

Following the congratulatory message and the withdraw of the same by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the yet to be appoint new Emir of Kano as attested by the Kano state government, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has accused the PDP of circulating falsehood do to the party's hatred for the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Malla Lamido Sanusi Lamido, who probably may be the new Emir of Kano.

According to El-Rufai, 'The PDP out of fear and hatred of my brother Sanusi Lamido Sanusi began circulating the falsehood that someone else had been appointed Emir of Kano.'

PDP Withdraws Congratulatory Message To The "New Emir Of Kano"

Our attention has been drawn to a unauthorized statement issued on behalf of the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP by his Special Assistant, Mr. Richard Ihediwa, congratulating the eldest son of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Kano.

Mr. Ihediwa relied on a false news flash on the AIT and issued a statement in that direction without approval from the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh.


This is completely embarrassing to the National Publicity Secretary and the entire leadership of the PDP.

We hereby dissociate with the statement earlier issued and regret the embarrassment this may have caused the entire nation, the Kano Emirate and the good people of Kano state.

"APC mourns Emir of Kano, calls him symbol of peace, unity" - by: Lai Mohammed

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed profound shock and sadness at the death of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, saying his demise came at a time that his great wisdom and wealth of knowledge are much needed to help Nigeria to surmount its challenges.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the late Emir was a symbol of peace and unity in his lifetime, reaching far beyond ethnic and religious divide to help foster a united Nigeria.


It said the Emir's long and remarkable reign that spanned over half a century marked a period of prolonged peace and prosperity for his domain, which was a testimony to his much-revered leadership qualities and his uncommon humanity.

APC commiserates with the family of the late Emir, as well as with the government and people of Kano State on the passing of such a great man, and expressed the hope that they will do everything possible to ensure that his legacy endures.

President Jonathan appoints Shekarau, three others as ministers

The Nigeria senate announced the nominees during its plenary session on Wednesday.

The Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has appointed four new ministers and sent their names to the Senate for confirmation.

One of the new appointees is Ibrahim Shekarau, former governor of Kano State who recently left the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, to join the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The other nominees are Abdul Bulama from Yobe State, Adedayo Adeyeye from Ekiti State, and Stephen Oruh from Delta State.

The Senate announced the nominees during its plenary session on Wednesday. They are to be screened at a later date.

The Nigeria Defence Headquarters yesterday announced the discovery of a deadly rocket launcher production facility in Dorayi District in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Director of Defence Information, Major-Gen. Chris Olukolade in Abuja. “The discovery follows the arrest of a prominent member of the terrorist group,” the statement said.

“Locally made anti-aircraft gun and mortar accessories, as well as rocket propelled grenade tubes and launcher along with accessories were recovered.

Nigeria deserve a World Diamond medal in corruption marathon as president Jonathan confessed to have bribed Kano delegates during last PDP presidential primary election

Today, during a PDP rally in Kano state, president Goodluck Jonathan, confessed in public, that he attempted to bribed Kano delegates during last PDP presidential primary election, albeit, Kwankwaso blocked the bribe. 

What manner of a nation, what manner of a leader, will look into the eyes of his subject in public, and pride himself as a bribe giver? All in the name of gaining cheap popularity. I wonder if at all we are serious on fighting corruption in Nigeria. 

But, for the magnitude of this presidential goofed, I wont labour myself to go to internet cafe, and respond to this presidential rascality, an impunity to the highest order. No nation worthy of its existence will allow this statement to go away, just like that. Unfortunately, because we are living in an uninformed society, people were clapping at this rubbish statement.
