Political appointments in 1999 was evenly distributed among all the 6 geopolitical zones in the country to engender unity, equity, fairness and justice

I will briefly outline how the appointment into six major positions were shared in the past and what obtains today and what can be done to ameliorate rising restiveness in some parts of the country

I thank the organizers for the opportunity to participate in this very important summit and in this panel. As Africa struggles to live up to the expectation as the next big investment frontier it is appropriate to focus on what will be the key driver of Africa’s advancement - Africa’s human resources.

In this panel we have been asked to speak about how we are to use philanthropy to identify, motivate, train, and reward people in such a way as to promote development in Africa. Development, a contented term, means to me the efforts to increase the productive capacity of a society, improve the people’s wellbeing, and expand the frontiers of freedom, while protecting the ecosystem for current and future generations.

Philanthropy and entrepreneurship have helped Africans build schools, roads, churches, and mosques. Through philanthropy many Africans have secured scholarships, employment, start-up capital for business, and cost of medical treatment. An individual’s success is deemed to be of limited social value if it does not lead to the success of others in the family, clan or community.
I point these out to underscore a very important point, which is that the link between philanthropy, entrepreneurship and human capital development has a long history in Africa.

Now let me tell you my own story.

Muhammadu Buhari, who could emerge as the main challenger to Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan at next year’s elections, is positioning himself as the strongman needed to root out corruption and roll back the brutal Islamist insurgency tearing at the country.

“We are almost over the cliff,” says the 71-year old former general, who seized power in 1983 and ruled Africa’s most populous nation with authoritarian zeal before being overthrown by rival generals 20 months later.

The coalition he formed last year alongside Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state and political godfather in Nigeria’s Yoruba-speaking southwest, and Atiku Abubakar, a wealthy former vice-president, will on Friday begin the delicate task of choosing party leaders.

The 37 All Progressive Congress members in the House of Representatives who are former members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP are set to present an impeachment motion against President Goodluck Jonathan. The legislators, who are allegedly acting in concert with their governors who defected with them to APC, are also following up their plans with a high profile sensitisation campaign against alleged misdeeds of the administration.


The Speaker of the house, Aminu Tambuwal and some PDP loyalists in the House have also warned the 37 members that the plan could worsen their precarious position.


The impeachment notice, which has been articulated into 30 points according to sources in the camp of the legislators, is a narrative of alleged misdeeds of the administration including financial misappropriation, unaccountability, extra-budgetary spending, among others.

Nigeria deserve a World Diamond medal in corruption marathon as president Jonathan confessed to have bribed Kano delegates during last PDP presidential primary election

Today, during a PDP rally in Kano state, president Goodluck Jonathan, confessed in public, that he attempted to bribed Kano delegates during last PDP presidential primary election, albeit, Kwankwaso blocked the bribe. 

What manner of a nation, what manner of a leader, will look into the eyes of his subject in public, and pride himself as a bribe giver? All in the name of gaining cheap popularity. I wonder if at all we are serious on fighting corruption in Nigeria. 

But, for the magnitude of this presidential goofed, I wont labour myself to go to internet cafe, and respond to this presidential rascality, an impunity to the highest order. No nation worthy of its existence will allow this statement to go away, just like that. Unfortunately, because we are living in an uninformed society, people were clapping at this rubbish statement.
