PRESS STATEMENT: ACTING PRESIDENT RESCHEDULES TRIP TO ONDO STATE

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has had to reschedule his visit to Ondo State today. The trip had been set-up in continuation of his tour of the oil-producing communities which earlier took the Acting President to Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Imo States.

Prof. Osinbajo was already air-borne this morning when weather reports indicated dusty haze and very poor visibility at the Akure Airport and other alternative airports nearby.

The presidential jet therefore had to return to Abuja following which the weather condition was closely monitored until about 2:30pm, when it became abundantly clear that the situation would not change in time for the Acting President to achieve the purposes of the visit. The visit has therefore been rescheduled for Monday, the 20th of February, 2017.

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT - Femi Fani-Kayode

Hardly had the hope and inspiration that the President's Democracy Day speech and new found valour set in when, the very next day, we heard some very bad news: Boko Haram had struck again.

This time their targets were not defenceless and innocent little girls and boys at their schools but first class traditional rulers. The killing of the Emir of Gwoza and the abduction of two other Emirs by the terrorists on Friday morning is an indication of the fact that the activities of the Islamist terrorists in Nigeria has reached a new level of barbarity.

It is time for the whole nation, whether they be christians, muslims or traditional worshippers, to come together, close ranks, join hands and cleanse our land of the Haramites and their secret sponsors once and for all.

National Confab Updates: Lamido of Adamawa wants 100 percent resource control, says Oil producing states should be allowed to take 100 percent oil revenues

Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Mustapha says the Oil producing states should be allowed to take 100 percent oil revenues, suggesting that states with no oil resources should in turn take a 100% of their land resources.

His remarks were well received by delegates, especially those from the Niger-Delta and South-South geo-political zone where oil is found. The traditional ruler spoke yesterday at the National Conference while commenting on the inaugural speech of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Traditional Ruler, speaking during the conference said, I have observed, Mr. Chairman that some people in this conference have started jumping the gun by commenting on issues like resource control, resource ownership, etc. "In this case, let me also jump the gun and say that states which don't have oil should allow states which have oil to take a hundred percent oil revenue and states which don't have oil should take a hundred percent land resource. "That means, all lands should revert to those states and anybody who wants to use the land or the structures on the land must pay rent to those states or the traditional owners of the land. For example the FCT."
