PRESS STATEMENT: ACTING PRESIDENT RESCHEDULES TRIP TO ONDO STATE

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has had to reschedule his visit to Ondo State today. The trip had been set-up in continuation of his tour of the oil-producing communities which earlier took the Acting President to Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Imo States.

Prof. Osinbajo was already air-borne this morning when weather reports indicated dusty haze and very poor visibility at the Akure Airport and other alternative airports nearby.

The presidential jet therefore had to return to Abuja following which the weather condition was closely monitored until about 2:30pm, when it became abundantly clear that the situation would not change in time for the Acting President to achieve the purposes of the visit. The visit has therefore been rescheduled for Monday, the 20th of February, 2017.

DUE PROCESS WILL PREVAIL AND MY MANDATE, THE MANDATE OF THE GOOD PEOPLE OF ONDO, WILL BE RECLAIMED! SAYS OLUSEGUN ABRAHAM

Olusegun Abraham
Dear members, delegates, leaders of our great party, the All Progresssives Congress (APC), and the members of the public in Ondo state, I greet you all.

The past few days have been quite eventful in the annals of our party in Ondo state, the eyes of the entire nation was on us, waiting to see how we were going to emerge from the unfortunate irregularities that befell the September 3rd gubernatorial primary election of our party.

After painstaking deliberation and consideration of evidence-backed petitions by our party's Electoral Appeal Committee and the National Working Committee (NWC), it was recommended that the September 3rd Primary election be annulled, and thankfully, this recommendation was ratified and upheld by a majority of our NWC, yesterday.

And just like most of you, I was disappointed at the inexplicably unexpected and unjustifiable move by our party's National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, to have disregarded this informed stance of the NWC that favored annulment of that fraud-ridden primary, moving ahead to submit a name to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Herdsmen and the Killing Field...2

The verdict By Olusegun Adeniyi

Early in 2012, I took my son to the birthday of a classmate of his at Maitama Amusement Park, Abuja where I noticed a familiar face. As I muttered almost to myself, “is that not Mrs. Maryam Abacha?” my son, then eight years old, replied in the affirmative. “Yes, that is his grandmother. His grandfather was General Sani Abacha that you wrote about in your book.” Although I didn’t say anything to that, my son then added: “They say his grandfather was a very wicked man. But he (the classmate) is not wicked. He is a good person.”

I didn’t need any reassurance about this particular well-mannered classmate of my son even though I had no inkling until then that he had any relationship to the late General Abacha. However, my son was probably concerned that I might have been trying to judge the boy by my prejudices against his grandfather. That was one message I took away from the testimonials he was reeling out. As amused as I was, that also taught me a lesson about how we judge others, not necessarily by who they are but by the family or ethnic group they belong to or the religion they practice.

PRESS RELEASE: Ondo Council Poll: Thank You Ondo State People - APC

As the whole world is aware, the council poll, organised by the PDP and its Government was held today in Ondo State. As a party that treasures the rule of law and democracy, we of the APC advised the State governor against any act that will promote unconstitutionality, and award prodigal space to perfidy. We did all of that to demonstrate the avowed commitment of APC in the State to constitutionality, democracy andthe rule of law – the foundation of participatory democracy.

When it was clear to our party that the PDP and its government will not be dissuaded from the path of unconstitutionality and their determination to waste the meagre resources of the tax payers on the said puerile council election, we made it known to the good citizens of Ondo State that the APC will not participate in the charade called council poll. Based on our conviction that the people of Ondo State will always thread the path of constitutionality, we appealed to then to stay away from wastage. Today, our party is vindicated. This is evident in the absolute concurrence of the people with our plea, that they should stay away from the poll. The people demonstrated clearly and unequivocally that no-one can pull any wool over thier eyes. With this boycott by the people, they have announced their rejection of the polls, the government and the government party. We will not however, be surprised with phoney figures of participation by the ODIEC just to cover this shame.

Ondo State: I Weep for You, By Dayo Williams

Another gubernatorial election draws nigh in Ondo State and the Governor Olusegun Mimiko, in his usually characteristically cosmetic approach to governance known only to the deep – for the masses are largely unaware of this – has signed another Memorandum of Understanding with an American bitumen exploration company called Liquefied Resources LLC.
A random check of the company on the internet shows that it has no functional website. There is no nothing to show that it has the capacity to do the exploration which requires so much technical-know how, coupled with an established track record of completed or ongoing projects in bitumen exploration processes.

Again, the company based at 107S Beech Springs, Cir Spring, Texas, 77389, United States of America, was only incorporated in February, 2012 according to the Houston-based 75-year old President of the company, Thomas Elard Cooley. Yet, the Managing Director of the Nigerian subsidiary of the company, one Mr. Tony Amechi James, on his LinkedIn page says he has been with the company since 2006. Who will reconcile the difference in the dates? Does it mean that the Nigerian subsidiary was created before its American parent? Something appears clumsy there. And who does business with such a company in this 21st century?

Re: Tinubu’s unfinished business

PAUL Joseph Goebbels (29 October 1897 – 1 May 1945) was Adolf Hitler’s Propaganda Minister in Nazi Germany. He also served as Chancellor for one day, following Hitler’s death. He was known for his zealous and energetic oratory and virulent anti-Semitism. One of his famous quotes is that if you repeat a lie often it becomes the truth and if you tell a lie so big enough people would start to believe it.

That came rushing in my memory as I read Ochereome Nnanna ‘s “Bola Tinubu’s unfinished business” (Vanguard, April 4, 2016) where he repeated the untruth that has been told against the memory of the late Afenifere Leader, Senator Abraham Adesanya in the years after his demise. He wrote and I quote:”One of Tinubu’s rare acts of political vision was his refusal to join the other five AD Governors of the South West under the directive of Afenifere, to support former President Olusegun Obasanjo for a second term in office.  Incidentally, all the governors who took Obasanjo’s poisoned bait – Lam Adesina of Oyo, Bisi Akande of Osun, Niyi Adebayo of Ekiti, Adebayo Adefarati of Ondo State and Olusegun Osoba of Ogun State – lost their states to Obasanjo’s PDP, with Tinubu (who had formed his own political party, the Action Congress) the last man standing. Not only did the Afenifere-propelled AD governors lose, the Afenifere itself, which Tinubu had distanced himself from because of their hobnobs with Obasanjo – collapsed as a political force”

3rd July, 2014.

The Chairman,
Nigeria National Conference,
National Judicial Institute,
Airport Road,
Abuja-FCT.

Dear sir,

REQUEST FOR CREATION OF OSE STATE FROM THE PRESENT ONDO, EDO AND KOGI STATES WITH HEADQUARTERS AT AKUNGBA-AKOKO.

Sequel to the recommendation of National Confab that additional 18 States be created to bring the total number of state to 9 States per Geo-political zones and make it a total of 54 in Nigeria, I hereby on behalf of the present Ondo North People in Ondo State in conjunction with Akoko Edo People of Edo State and Okun People of Present day Kogi State request that we be created as a State to be known as Ose State with Akungba-Akoko as the State Capital of the new State.

As a keen follower of Confab deliberations, I am aware of the confab's decision that such State to be created must be viable or potentially viable economically, the people must have historical antecedent linking them together and the population must not be less than One Million People to be qualified for creation as a State.

Details: Why Fayemi and APC Lost Ekiti – by an Ekitian, Tosin Awotesu

I have read a number of commentary regarding the Ekiti gubernatorial election which saw Ayo Fayose emerge as the newly elected Governor of Ekiti State with a landslide victory. I have read people accuse the PDP of rigging the election, an accusation mainly coming from people who do not live in Ekiti and were nowhere near Ekiti during the election. Some have not even been to Ekiti before! Yet, the participants, the people of Ekiti, and those present have all come out to say the elections were free and fair. So, what do these people know, the entire people of Ekiti, Fayemi, Opeyemi Bamidele and election observers do not know? Why trying to heat up the polity again? I believe some of these people may enjoy the shedding of innocent blood to satisfy their sick minds!

John Kayode Fayemi, Despite His Loss, Is The New Brand Of Leaders Nigeria Need By Dr. Wumi Akintide

I never thought our wasted generation would ever live to see a day in Nigerian politics when a loser in an election would pick up his phone to call his nemesis and later issue a very thoughtful concession statement to an opponent who has just beaten him flat in an election many people would normally have expected him to win as the Governor in power.I never thought our wasted generation would ever live to see a day in Nigerian politics when a loser in an election would pick up his phone to call his nemesis and later issue a very thoughtful concession statement to an opponent who has just beaten him flat in an election many people would normally have expected him to win as the Governor in power.I never thought our wasted generation would ever live to see a day in Nigerian politics when a loser in an election would pick up his phone to call his nemesis and later issue a very thoughtful concession statement to an opponent who has just beaten him flat in an election many people would normally have expected him to win as the Governor in power.

John Kayode Fayemi has just done in Ado Ekiti and I throw my salute to him. I see that as a big plus for Nigeria. I also want to use this platform to congratulate Ayo Fayose the clear winner in that election even though I would not have voted for him. He did what he had to do to win and like I acknowledge in my previous article on him and Kayode Fayemi, posted on the Internet, he is not a pushover in Ekiti or Nigerian Politics given his track record as a former Governor in Ekiti who has now led the opposition to defeat two Governors in Ekiti back to back. I am talking of Governor Adebayo and Governor Fayemi. He, Ayo Fayose has got to be doing something right to have done that. Ayo Fayose, the only politician to call the bluff of General Olusegun Obasanjo when he refused to support his third term agenda is not a political strategist to be taken lightly. I respect him for his courage and conviction but more so now for his resourcefulness in grass-root Politics and his command and control structure in Ekiti.

Soldiers hostage of Governor Amaechi's convoy near Ikere- Ekiti

When would the drama playing out between President GEJ and Gov. Ameachi of Rivers State come to an end? It's a global shame and must be rebuked by us all..

The Rivers State Government is concerned about the safety of Governor Amaechi who is right now being held hostage in a commando style by soldiers and federal government security agents in Odudu, Ondo state. Governor Amaechi as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ forum and as an APC governor and chieftain had left Port Harcourt this morning for Ekiti state where he was to join his brother governor in his last mega rally before the elections.
Governor Amaechi was ambushed and refused entry into Ekiti by military personnel acting on orders from above. He made to turn back and return to Akure where his chattered aircraft was parked but was chased and rounded by armed soldiers and security personnel in Odudu, Ondo state. According to the captain who led the operation, he had orders not to allow the governor
entry or exit.

Ekiti 2014: Nigerian military orders shoot at sight

The Nigerian military has ordered soldiers to shoot “whosoever is caught with any offensive weapons” in the buildup to the June 21 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State. This is as the military announced that it arrested three persons with a truck laden with out-dated election materials on Thursday in the state.

The run-up to the election has been characterised by violent clashes with the major political parties pointing accusing fingers at one another. Matters got to a head last Sunday when mobile police officers shot at the governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, and his supporters during a rally in the state capital, Ado-Ekiti.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole orders demolition of kidnappers’ den in Benin

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State on Wednesday ordered the demolition of a block of four flats identified as a hideout of kidnappers in the state, which he would supervise by himself.

Oshiomhole, who gave the directive when four suspected kidnappers were paraded before him by officers of the State Security service, SSS, in Benin, said that the den of kidnappers located along Sapele Road in Benin City would be destroyed according to the dictates of the law. “I am obliged to obey the directive of the law, which is that any property used for kidnapping has to be brought down.

APC ward congress: One killed, four arrested during Ondo state - Police

Four suspected political hoodlums have been arrested over the killing of a middle-aged man, simply identified as Bosun. Bosun was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure, the Ondo state capital. Bosun was allegedly shot on the head by the hoodlum during today’s APC ward congress at Ajipowo ward two in Akure South.

Trouble started when two chairmen emerged for the ward and none of them was ready to step down for the other. It was learnt that the suspected hoodlums were sent by a faction of the APC who were against the party arrangement of the congress.

The faction was led by one Alaba Ogundele who is also a member of the APC.

Already the remains of the late Bosun have been removed and deposited in an undisclosed mortuary.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Wole Ogodo confirmed this, saying security operatives have taken over the situation.
