However, Mr. Buhari’s return remains uncertain as his team of doctors in the United Kingdom has yet to certify him fit to take on the significant burden of his office. 

It was learned that members of Mr. Buhari’s inner circle were pressuring him to return to Nigeria in order to avoid a power vacuum that could scale down their influence. The Fulanis have tried to no avail to convert these ethnic groups to Islam but couldn't even with the establishment of an Emirate call Jama'a Emirate in Kafanchan to ensure tribe around that area are converted to Islam.

The 2006 censors gave Kaduna State a Population of 6m, the 3rd after Kano and Lagos. When you add and sum up the population of the 11 LGA that made up Southern Kaduna you will get a Population of about 3m people.

Southern Kaduna People are the most educated people in the entire Northwest. Kaduna State is the 4th educationally advantage state in the North after Kwara, Benue, Kogi and definately it's not the Hausa Fulanis that made that possible but Southern Kaduna people.

PRESIDENT BUHARI ORDERS STRONG ACTIONS TO DEAL WITH VIOLENCE IN SOUTHERN KADUNA

President Muhammadu Buhari has, over the past week, given instructions for decisive measures aimed at bringing an end to the recurring acts of violence and destruction in the Southern part of Kaduna State.

On the directive of President Buhari, the Inspector-General of Police was in the region on Saturday and Sunday to assess the situation at first hand. In addition to the conventional policemen deployed in the area, a squadron of mobile policemen has now been stationed there.

The Nigerian army is also in the process of setting up two battalions in Southern Kaduna while the military continues to carry out air surveillance across flash points of the area.

More troops have been deployed to Kaduna State ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations just as the 24-hour curfew imposed in the three Local Government Areas of Jema’a, Kaura and Zangon Kataf has been relaxed.

The development was after credible intelligence at the disposal of security agencies suggests apossible threat to peace and urgent need to nip it in the bud and the earlier imposition of 24-hour curfew in three local government areas of the state, namely, Jema’a, Kaura and Zangon Kataf.

Samuel Aruwan, Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai’s spokesman disclosed this in a statement.

The EFCC has arraigned the duo of Munzali Ahmed and Alex Bala before Honourable Justice Idrissa Kolo of the Federal High Court, Kano, on a one count charge bordering on diversion of PMS popularly known as Petrol. 

The accused, Munzali Ahmed, who is the Sales Representative of NNPC in Dutse, Jigawa State and Alex Bala the NNPC Sales Representative in Hotoro, Kano, were arrested by EFCC Operatives Special Task Force in March 2016 following intelligence which indicated that truck of 40,000 litres of PMS with Registration Number GME804XA belonging to the NNPC Retail billed for Bamaina outlet in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State was diverted to Munira Petroleum Ltd and Danmarke Investment Ltd both in Zaria, Kaduna State. 

War Against Terror: 186 Junior Military Officers Get Counter-terrorism Training

The Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna State, has conducted a special training course for junior military officers on counter-terrorism and peace support operations.

The training equipped them with appropriate skills to function as Grade Three Staff Officers and Junior commanders in their various military services and organisations.

During their graduation ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, said the training had become necessary due to the emerging security challenges.

Beggars protest in Kaduna ask El-Rufai to Withdraw anti-street begging law in 7 days

Beggars in Kaduna State yesterday staged a protest over the law banning street begging and hawking, giving Governor Nasir El-Rufai seven days ultimatum to withdraw the law.

Governor El-Rufai had last week assented to the bill to ban street begging and hawking, which the beggars described as contrary to the promises made to them during campaign, and threatened to occupy the Government House in their large numbers if El-Rufai would not withdraw the law.

The beggars comprising the blind, the deaf, and the physically challenged, stormed the Kaduna state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) yesterday, asserting that they did not mind sacrificing their lives in the fight against the law.

TROOPS CLEAR CATTLE RUSTLERS AND ARMED BANDITS OUT OF MARU

In continuation of the efforts of getting rid of the menace of cattle rustling, armed banditry and other criminality in the country generally and in the north west geo-political region, under the auspices of Operation SHARAN DAJI, troops of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, in conjunction with the Nigeria Police in Zamfara State, have carried out a joint clearance operation in Maru today.

Although most of the targeted suspected cattle rustlers and armed bandits have escaped, the joint team recovered substantial quantity of arms and ammunitions in the area.

Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said it is equally believed some of the criminals escaped with gun shot wounds.

Early in 2012, I took my son to the birthday of a classmate of his at Maitama Amusement Park, Abuja where I noticed a familiar face. As I muttered almost to myself, “is that not Mrs. Maryam Abacha?” my son, then eight years old, replied in the affirmative. “Yes, that is his grandmother. His grandfather was General Sani Abacha that you wrote about in your book.” Although I didn’t say anything to that, my son then added: “They say his grandfather was a very wicked man. But he (the classmate) is not wicked. He is a good person.”

I didn’t need any reassurance about this particular well-mannered classmate of my son even though I had no inkling until then that he had any relationship to the late General Abacha. However, my son was probably concerned that I might have been trying to judge the boy by my prejudices against his grandfather. That was one message I took away from the testimonials he was reeling out. As amused as I was, that also taught me a lesson about how we judge others, not necessarily by who they are but by the family or ethnic group they belong to or the religion they practice.

Kaduna Govt presents Q1 budget performance to legislature, explains Budget Adjustment Mechanism

For the first time in the history of the state, the Kaduna State Government has presented the first quarter budget performance report to the House of Assembly. 

Finance Commissioner Suleiman Abdu Kwari told the legislators that the presentation of the budget performance report “is in furtherance of the quest of the El-Rufai government to ensure accountability and transparency in governance”.

Reviewing the budget performance, Kwari recalled that the 2016 Budget is based on 60:40 expenditure profile for Capital and Recurrent. Key priorities for the budget are: Infrastructure, Healthcare, Security, Jobs and Agriculture with Education Sector being given the utmost priority. 

While the revenue dip has been a bit of a dampener, procurement processes for capital projects have dominated the first quarter as the government remains determined to fulfill its manifesto commitments. Capital spending in the first quarter amounts to an unprecedented N7bn, with N4.9bn going to the Education sector for school renovation, furniture, and uniforms, and almost a billion naira as payments for the Zaria Water Project.

NIGERIAN TROOPS RECOVERED 1,304 LIVESTOCK AND ARRESTED 15 SUSPECTED CATTLE RUSTLERS

A statement rreleased by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman who is the Acting Director of Army Public Relations confirmed that Nigerian Troops of 1 Division of Nigerian Army in conjunction with other security agencies within the last one week have recorded tremendous success in the fight against cattle rustling, armed banditry and criminality particularly in the north west under the auspices of Operation SHARAN DAJI.

In Kaduna State, the Division’s Internal Security Force (DISFORCE) has recovered 108 Livestock and killed 1 armed bandit and recovered 1 AK-47 Rifle and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.

In Zamfara State, which is 1 Brigade’s area of operation, the troops recovered 419 livestock and arrested 1 bandit and recovered a locally made pistol from him.

Nigerian Army: We’ll tame Boko Haram, restore peace to North-East

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Kenneth Minimah, on Saturday said the Nigerian Army would put in check the Boko Haram terrorists and restore peace to the North East region of the country.

The Army chief made the commitment at the passing out parade of Direct Short Service Commission Course 22/2015, held at the Nigeria Army School of Infantry, Jaji, Kaduna State.

He said that the insurgents ``have been seriously degraded'', and pledged that the army would not relent until it ensures peace and stability in the region.

How Nigerian Soldiers Dug Hole To Enter Boko Haram Kingpin’s Home In Kaduna - Military Source

A senior military officer at Nigeria’s Defense Headquarters in Abuja has shown how soldiers in Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna State, had to dig a tunnel to gain entry into the home of a Boko Haram kingpin. 

The military operation took place last Sunday, said the source, who took journalists to the location. According to military source, the Boko Haram operative died in an exchange of gunfire at his home located in the Kinkinau area of Kaduna town. The military officer disclosed that the Islamist kingpin and a few lower level terrorists had fled Boko Haram’s violence-prone northeast to different locations before arriving in Kaduna where they resettled with their families.

The Islamist henchman and his cohorts had virtually integrated themselves into their community in Kaduna and had adapted to the local setting.

Is there anybody out there who can talk for these people in authority to listen? Nigeria is gradually grinding to a halt and the price is getting increasingly unbearable. Things are deteriorating fast and fast. They are going out of hand and it appears that the state whose major responsibility is the protection of our lives and property is exhibiting some measure of hopelessness.

Yes, hopelessness because what we see and hear across the country is murder and arson from restive groups and individuals while the state which posses the legitimate coercive apparatuses is fast joining the chanting crowds and is pointing fingers and singing in different tunes reminiscence of evidences of either helplessness pry failure.

What is really happening is the question that millions of our citizens are asking and answers do not seem to be coming from the right quarters.

Why Another Confab Delegate, Dr Mohammed Jumare Dies in Abuja

Another delegate in the ongoing National Conference, Dr Mohammed Jumare, representing elder statesmen is dead. In a statement issued by Mr James Akpandem, the Assistant Secretary, Media and Communications, said Jumare died in the early hours of Monday in Abuja.

He said the elder statesman, who hailed from Kaduna State, had since been buried in Zaria.

“The National Conference sitting in Abuja was on Monday hit by another sad news of the death of a delegate, Dr Mohammed Abubakar Jumare, from Kaduna State. “Dr Jumare who came to the Conference as an Elder Statesman died in the early hours of Monday in Abuja and was buried later in the day in Zaria.

“The late Dr Jumare was born on August 20, 1943 in Kwarbai, Zaria City. “His burial was attended by the Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Ramalan Yero and the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris,” Akpandem said.

Fulani Herdsmen Targeting FCT - Army Raises The Alarm, Distress call saves community as troops continue onslaught on terrorists

The Nigerian Army  yesterday raises alarm that the herdsmen that have been attacking and killing innocent people in some states in the north are targeting the Fedral Capital Territory, Abuja, the seat of the government. 

The Military cautions the populace against identifying with them. Fulani herdsmen, who have been operating under the cover of the night, according to the military, were hired by some unscrupulous faceless people to unleash terror on the populace.

The terrorists have killed about 2, 000 innocent people in the last few weeks. Security forces have been dispatching troops to Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau states at the directive of President Goodluck Jonathan. Some top officers that were sent to Benue on fact-finding mission were said to have written a damning report that showed that the herdsmen were coming into the country from the neighbouring countries to attack, kill and destroy.
