Why Another Confab Delegate, Dr Mohammed Jumare Dies in Abuja

Another delegate in the ongoing National Conference, Dr Mohammed Jumare, representing elder statesmen is dead. In a statement issued by Mr James Akpandem, the Assistant Secretary, Media and Communications, said Jumare died in the early hours of Monday in Abuja.

He said the elder statesman, who hailed from Kaduna State, had since been buried in Zaria.

“The National Conference sitting in Abuja was on Monday hit by another sad news of the death of a delegate, Dr Mohammed Abubakar Jumare, from Kaduna State. “Dr Jumare who came to the Conference as an Elder Statesman died in the early hours of Monday in Abuja and was buried later in the day in Zaria.

“The late Dr Jumare was born on August 20, 1943 in Kwarbai, Zaria City. “His burial was attended by the Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Ramalan Yero and the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris,” Akpandem said.
The media officer said the late Jumare was the General Manager, Personnel and Administration at Peugeot Automobile Ltd, Kaduna, from 1993 to 1999. He added that the deceased was also the Chairman, Kaduna State Water Board from 2003 to 2004.

According to Akpandem, Jumare also served as a National Commissioner in charge of Information and Publicity Committee at the National Electoral Commission.

He said the deceased was also the Chairman of the 15-member National Advisory Committee on Delimitation of Constituencies constituted by INEC from 2008 to 2009. Adding that that Jumare was re-appointed Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission in Kaduna State in 2011, a position he held until his demise.

The media officer said the conference was represented at his burial by Prof Mahmood Yakubu, the Assistant Secretary, Finance and Administration. (NAN)
