Clippers co-owner Donald Sterling has filed a lawsuit against the NBA for more than $1 billion, his lawyer said. The league, meanwhile, said it reached a deal on the team's sale with the Sterling family trust.
The NBA announced a resolution with Sterling's estranged wife and the trust under which the Clippers will be sold to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, pending approval by the NBA Board of Governors. A June 3 meeting to discuss forcing the team's sale was canceled.
Also Friday, two sources with detailed knowledge of the situation told CNN that two neurologists deemed Donald Sterling to be mentally incapacitated. Sterling's lawyer, Maxwell Blecher, called the declaration a "vast overstatement."
Sterling's lawyer confirmed the lawsuit against the NBA, adding that Sterling will not go quietly into the night. He's opting to create further litigation on the matter.
