The request was read on the Senate floor on Tuesday morning.
The state of emergency rule was first introduced by president Jonathan in the three states in May last year, before it was extended by another six months in November when it became difficult for the government to contained the activities of the dreaded Islamist Terrorist, Boko Haram who are hell bent in their attacks in the Nigeria North-Eastern states .
A further extension will ensure it continues to November, three months to the 2015 general elections in Nigeria.
The reason for the introduction of state of emergency has not been achieved as the Boko Haram intensify their attacks and kidnapping of the innocents who are majorly school children. The recent of the activities includes the Nyanya Bombings and the over 200 schoolgirls kidnapped in Chibok, Borno state.
Details later…
