Boko Haram and Jonathan State of Emergency: The Agenda is at Full Steam Now! By Mr Cham

In quick succession the following have been captured by "Boko Haram" in just few days, and right under a stringent State of Emergency:
1. Gwoza town
2. Gamborun Ngala town
3. Buni - Yadi town
4. Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) training school in Gwoza.

All these are in addition to many other towns and villages destroyed by "Boko Haram" right under State of Emergency rule in north-eastern Nigeria!

It seems the more we are advancing towards 2015 the more powerful "Boko Haram" becomes, and the more towns and villages they capture and destroy in northern Nigeria in spite of a State of Emergency rule in place!

Boko Haran: NIS to deploy patrol corps in borders

The Nigeria Immigration Service on Sunday said it was set to deploy members of its special border patrol corps in the nation’s borders as part of measures to check illegal migration and terrorism. The NIS Public Relations Officer, Emeka Obua, said this on Sunday.

Obua said, “We have graduated 1,000 special patrol border corps personnel and they will soon be deployed to the nation’s borders. The corps is part of the proposals to the Federal Government by the Comptroller-General. “Other components of the proposals include yearly recruitment of 5,000 personnel into the service for at least three years and the setting up of border patrol technology to check illegal migration and influx of terrorists and criminals into the country.”

He said the border patrol corps would be backed with modern border security technologies, including electronic sensors that could detect human movement particularly at the 1,497 illegal routes being used by terrorists and foreigners that did not want to be profiled by the immigration service.

Obua explained that the corps was not a new creation, noting that it was part of the recommendation of the Justice Nnaemeka Aniagolu Commission of Inquiry on the Maitasine riot, which unfortunately was not implemented by past governments.

STATE OF EMERGENCY: THE THIRD RENEWAL BY GUMI

The prophet -peace be upon him- said: “a true believer is never stung from the same hole twice”. The Caliph Muawiya said: “there is no wisdom without experience”.

Today, we all know that any medical Doctor that will prescribe the same antibiotic while treating a bacterial infection that refuses to subside needs his certificate to be reexamined. These words of wisdoms have a lot to say about our government and legislators. It is unbelievable that we as a nation have sunk so low that even common sense is a rare gem to be found.

Was not the chief of army staff ordered by the same legislators to relocate to Maiduguri weeks before the abduction of the innocent school girls in Chibok? Virtually, the legislators here had to assume the position of the C-in-C from what they observed of the callousness of the government recognized even internationally. We are then in trouble. A knife in the hands of a madman on a market day!

Army Commanders, Boko Haram Working Together in Parts of Nigeria?

VOA  - A Nigerian soldier says he has witnessed incidents that suggest some Nigerian military commanders are working with Boko Haram, an Islamist militant group blamed for thousands of deaths since 2009.

In an exclusive interview with VOA's Hausa service, he described how his military unit, based in the northeastern Borno State region, was ambushed by Boko Haram fighters.

The soldier, who did not want to be identified, said the commander of a nearby military unit, based in the town of Bama, recently sought assistance from his unit in carrying out a raid.

The soldier said when the two military units joined up, they were given different uniforms. The Bama unit commander gave his own troops green uniforms. The soldier said his unit received tan "desert camouflage" uniforms.

Boko Haram: Borno needs more troops - Shettima

The governor of the north-eastern Nigerian state of Borno has called for more troops to be deployed to combat Boko Haram Islamist militants.
Kashim Shettima was speaking during a visit to the town of Konduga, where 39 died in an attack on Tuesday.
A mosque and more than 1,000 homes were also razed to the ground, residents said.
Boko Haram has been conducting a four-year campaign of violence to push for Islamic rule in northern Nigeria.

Last May, President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Borno and the neighbouring states of Adamawa and Yobe in a bid to stop their insurgency.
But  military is once again facing criticism for not doing more to protect the people of the north-east and failing to detect and attack another convoy of Boko Haram militants.
'Better motivated'
An eyewitness in Konduga, about 35km (22 miles) from the Borno state capital Maiduguri, said the militants arrived in many vehicles, planted a black flag in the middle of the town before going on the rampage shooting people, slitting the throats of some of their victims and torching buildings.
"Frankly speaking officers and men of the Nigerian army and the Nigerian police force are doing their best given the circumstances but you and I know that Boko Haram are better armed and better motivated," Mr Shettima said.
"They are putting in their best given the circumstances they have found themselves in but there is a need for additional troops and support for the military," the governor said.
It is not clear how many troops are in the region, but thousands more were deployed last year when Mr Jonathan imposed emergency rule, saying every resource of the armed forces would be used to combat the militants.
Frustrated by their efforts, the president then replaced his top military brass on 16 January.
The attack on Konduga is thought to have been the biggest in the restive region since those new appointments.
