Social Media Activism And Unconscious support?

We are at a cross roads in the very being of Nigeria and yet some people cannot see that they just may be tools that are being manipulated by others, with less than good motives to achieve this. In their new found media voice they are blasting away at all and anything, happily piling all at the door of the government of the day, even though the causes of the current situation could be said to have been implanted right at the beginning of the life of Nigeria. More along these lines later.
My point is that these people instead of being a little bit more discerning are too eager to exercise their newly found media freedom. Unfortunately they do not realise that with freedom comes responsibility. This responsibility means that they should be discerning about what they say, spread and so forth.

Now some know this, but others, the “unconscious support”, do not and worse, do not know that they are being used for a totally different motive. A motive that if they knew they would be abhorred at.

By exercising their new freedom, without discernment, they undermine the government of the day, giving “unconscious support” to those that have ulterior motives. Now do not get me wrong, I am not saying that people should not criticize constructively! They should!

But by constantly bashing the government of the day they are giving support, albeit unconscious, to those that would bring the government down, via a media coup.

In so doing, constructively criticizing, they should properly apportion blame and responsibility, identify root causes and seek the real truth, offering workable alternatives devoid of the three below.

As we watch the crisis escalate in Nigeria you may care to ask yourself if you were part of the destruction, in your little way, by your online activism.

It could be said that these three below are amongst the tools used by those that want to control the very soul of Nigeria, those that have orchestrated its ongoing death.

Mediocrity – Installed as the benchmark in all things societal. Ability and talent have been sacrificed on the altar of “federal character”

Tribalism/Ethnicity – Again this has been installed in all things societal, with their main defense being ….. “federal character”.

Religion – This is the real clincher. It was snick into government from the highest offices. Something that should have been left as a private choice has been brought into the very soul of all in Nigeria.

These three tools were ingrained in the very DNA of Nigeria right at the beginning. We can thank the midwives for this. Beware, if you are one of those being used!
