Port Harcourt Ruling: Ali Modu Sheriff Faction Wins At Appeal Court

The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has on Friday, ruled that the caretaker committee headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi is illegal and cannot act on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Makarfi faction promised to appeal the judgment! The court set aside the judgement delivered by Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court in Rivers State who recognized former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi as the leader of the party.

Messrs. Sheriff and Makarfi lead separate factions of the PDP, Nigeria’s major opposition party.

El-Rufai frowns at the destruction of the Military Foundation Laying Structure in Southern Kaduna

The Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai on Saturday 11th of February 2017, frowned at the destruction of the foundation laying structure of the proposed Nigerian Army Battalion in Southern Kaduna.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai and Governor El-Rufai had last week laid the foundation for the establishment of the battalion at Ungwan Yashi area of Zangon Kataf Local Government as a response to the incessant killings occurring in Southern Kaduna since 1980.

El-Rufai in a response to the destruction by unknown persons described the situation as "unfortunate, and further confirms that the conflict entrepreneurs are determined to continue to create obstacles and setback to our stabilization and peace building efforts."

The Governor in a statement was quoted as saying:

"First, the most influential person in the Presidency today is one Mamman Daura whom as you know, is a nephew of the President. His father was Buhari’s elder brother. In addition, Mamman Daura was the one who single handedly brought up Abba Kyari, the current Chief of Staff to the President. In fact, Abba Kyari knows Mamman Daura more than he knows his own father.

Next, the Personal Assistant to Buhari himself is the son of Mamman Daura, next is what they call SCOP, State Chief of Protocol, and is also a son-in-law to Mamman Daura because he is married to Mamman Daura’s daughter.

Next, the Minister they unilaterally chose, against the interest of the party and against the wishes of Sokoto people, happens to be the daughter of the younger sister of Mamman Daura’s wife. Both of them are daughters of Sultan Dasuki, who was sacked by General Abacha. We have the Aide De Camp to Buhari himself, Colonel Abubakar. He is married to the granddaughter of one of Buhari’s elder sisters.

El-Rufai condemns Sanga killing, appeals for calm

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has condemned the killing of a traditional ruler and his relation in Fadan Karshi, Sanga local government area of the State.


While commiserating with the family of the victims, the Governor urged the people of Sanga local government area to be calm and support the security agencies to investigate the attack and apprehend the perpetrators of the murders.

Speaking at a meeting with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the eight local government areas of Kaduna South Senatorial District, the Governor said that security agencies are investigating the attack, and are working to apprehend the culprits.

Why Another Confab Delegate, Dr Mohammed Jumare Dies in Abuja

Another delegate in the ongoing National Conference, Dr Mohammed Jumare, representing elder statesmen is dead. In a statement issued by Mr James Akpandem, the Assistant Secretary, Media and Communications, said Jumare died in the early hours of Monday in Abuja.

He said the elder statesman, who hailed from Kaduna State, had since been buried in Zaria.

“The National Conference sitting in Abuja was on Monday hit by another sad news of the death of a delegate, Dr Mohammed Abubakar Jumare, from Kaduna State. “Dr Jumare who came to the Conference as an Elder Statesman died in the early hours of Monday in Abuja and was buried later in the day in Zaria.

“The late Dr Jumare was born on August 20, 1943 in Kwarbai, Zaria City. “His burial was attended by the Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Ramalan Yero and the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris,” Akpandem said.

Kaduna LG relaxes curfew in Kafanchan to 10 hours

Jema’a Local Government Council of Kaduna State, on Thursday said it had relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed in Kafanchan by 10 hours.

Yesterday,  a 24-hour curfew was imposed in Kafanchan township after the violent youths’ reaction to the arrest of 24 suspected Fulani Herdsmen allegedly in possession of arms.

As the curfew hours reduced to 10 hours, theChairman of the council,  Mr Daniel Amos said in Kafanchan that residents were now free to go about their businesses from  6 am to 4 pm. “The development is due to relative calm witnessed within the metropolis.

“We believe the situation would improve as there has not been report of disturbances from any quarters,” he said.

Kaduna killings: Former Yakowa’s aide regains freedom, SKIF condemns his arrest

The Former Senior Special Assistant on Media to the late Kaduna State Governor, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, Reuben Buhari, was set free yesterday by the police. He was arrested about a week ago for posting images of dead victims of the recent killings in Kaduna State.

His kinsmen have however risen in his defence, wondering when it became an offence to post unfabricated photos of senseless massacre that claimed scores of lives. In a statement signed by Southern Kaduna Indigenes Forum, the group condemned the arrest, describing it as witch-hunt.
