CHRIS OLUKOLADE: Nigerian Troops Bust Terrorists' Intelligence Network, Arrest A Key Actor In Chibok Abduction
A terrorists’ intelligence cell headed by a businessman who participated actively in the abduction of School Girls in Chibok has been busted by troops. The man, Babuji Ya’ari who is also a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF which he uses as cover while remaining an active terrorist, also spearheaded the murder of the Emir of Gwoza. His main role in the group is to spy and gather information for the terrorists group.
Babuji has been coordinating several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011, including the daring attacks on Customs and military locations as well as the planting of IEDs in several locations in the town.
The arrest of the businessman who is known to deal in tricycles has also yielded some vital information and facilitated the arrest of other members of the terrorists’ intelligence cell who are women. One of them, Hafsat Bako had earlier escaped to Gombe State to avoid suspicion but was tracked and arrested. Prior to her arrest, Hafsat coordinated the payment of other operatives on the payroll of the group. In her confession, she disclosed that a minimum of N10,000 is paid to each operative depending on the enormity of his task.

Senate renews emergency rule with 8 conditions
Nigeria Senate yesterday endorsed a six-month extension of emergency rule in three states in the Northeast. The endorsement was, however, with eight conditions which the lawmakers said must be observed in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.
Some senators of Northern extraction had last week vowed to stop the extension. The lawmakers contended that one year of emergency rule had not yielded the expected results.
Before the upper chamber threw its back behind the extension it held over four hour closed door session to thrash contentious issues especially those raised by opposing Senators. Some observers were, however, taken aback with the turn of events, especially the unanimous adoption of the motion to extend the emergency rule.

DailyTrust Interview : What Boko Haram Fighters Told Me About Sect - Governor Kashim Shettima
Governor Kashim Shettima is, probably, Nigeria’s most troubled state Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the moment. Before he was voted into power in the 2011 governorship election, the insurgency in Borno State had begun to fester. In spite of all peace moves and military action, the crisis has not been brought to an end.
In this exclusive interview conducted last Wednesday, Governor spoke on the abduction of over 200 school girls of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok some two weeks ago, the state of emergency, the Boko Haram crisis generally, among many other contemporary issues
That incident is one nightmare that troubles me very much - as a father and leader. It remains the worst in my entire life. As a father I can imagine what a parent feels when a daughter is in the hands of abductors who are very capable of forceful marriage, rape, slavery and who are against education. As I said at a courtesy call earlier today, we are at a brokenhearted time in our dear Borno State because as we speak, over 200 precious daughters of Borno, 200 young enterprising school girls working towards a bright future, are being detained somewhere by our fellow men who claim to be devoted Muslims, whereas Allah who created all of us, has mandated us to protect women, to support them, to serve them with special attention and to even spare them during Islamic holy wars that the Boko Haram claim to be fighting.

Abuja #BringBackOurGirls Rally: The Need to End Slavery - by Dr. Jibrin Ibrahim
The Abuja #BringBackOurGirls rally in Abuja on Saturday afternoon was exceptional. The former FCT Minister, Aliyu Modobbo, in his solidarity message articulated clearly a point that is in many people’s mind. There is a concerted attempt to re-introduce slavery into Nigeria and we must all come out and struggle against slavery.
The most poignant message was from the Senator representing Borno South in the senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume. He explained that he had been falsely accused of being a financier of Boko Haram. He came with two of his immediate junior sisters, both of whom are Christians. He added that their mother died as the regional women’s leader of the COCIN Church. His family is equally divided between Christians and Muslims so how could he sponsor a group that is trying to kill his own mother and sisters. He also came with his wife whose senior brother had been killed by the terrorists.
