Saudi Arabia: A Bomber killed, two police wounded in blast outside U.S. consulate in Jeddah on July 4th!

The 4th of July, U.S. Independence Day, celebrations in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah were marred by violence as a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a mosque opposite the U.S. consulate.
The attacker was killed and two police officers were injured in the blast. A Suicide bomber has detonated an explosive device near the US consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Initial reports indicate the bomber died in the explosion and two people were injured.

The troops of 7 Division Garrison in conjunction with the ever dedicated Civilian JTF maintaining security and vigilance averted yet another attempt by the Boko Haram terrorists to unleash suicide bomber into the peaceful community of Sulaimanti, outskirts of Maiduguri city early today morning.

According to the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman , the terrorist carrying Improvised Explosive Device (IED), attempted to attack worshippers at Sulaimanti mosque during early morning prayer.

As the ongoing clearance and rescue operations gained momentum, troops of 28 Task Force Brigade have successfully cleared enclaves of Boko Haram terrorists along Galtha Baba, Galtha Musa, Bulakurma, Shatimari, Chukruk, Bulangaje, and Disa villages.

Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said  during the operation, 1 Boko Haram terrorist was captured alive and 3 motorcycles, bags of grains, their flags and uniforms were recovered. Other items include suicide bomber’s hijab, mobile phone and 1 Dane gun, as well as foodstuffs and cooking utensils.

The troops also rescued 15 persons that were held hostages by the Boko Haram terrorists in the area.

War In Syria: Blasts in Central Province of Homs Kill 10 but Aleppo Mostly Calm Amid Truce

A car bomb exploded in the main square of a central Syrian village on Thursday and once people gathered to help the victims, a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle detonated his explosives belt nearby, killing at least 10 people and wounding scores, state media and the regional governor said.

The twin attack in the central province of Homs came hours after a truce brought relative calm to the northern city of Aleppo, which has been the center of violence in recent weeks.

The truce was announced by U.S. officials in agreement with Russia, in an effort to extend Syria's fragile cease-fire to the deeply contested city. The Syrian military said the truce would last only 48 hours.

Suicide bomber kills 9 at Baghdad mosque after Friday prayers

A suicide bomber killed at least nine people when he detonated an explosive vest after Friday prayers at a Shi’ite Muslim mosque in southwestern Baghdad.

Iraqi police and hospital sources said the second suicide attacker at the mosque in al-Radwaniya district was shot and killed by security forces before he could set off his explosives.
Meanwhile, a security and medical sources confirmed that a separate bomb went off on Friday in the district of Abu Ghraib, west of Baghdad, killing two and wounded nine.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which wounded at least 25 others, but Islamic State militants battling government forces in the north and west have regularly targeted Shi’ite areas in the capital.

The rise of the ultra-hardline Sunni Muslim group, has exacerbated a long-running sectarian conflict in Iraq, mostly between Shi’ites and Sunnis, which emerged after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
The Iraqi government has retaken several major cities from the Islamic State in the past year and slowly pushed them back towards the Syrian border.
The authorities have said they want to recapture the northern city of Mosul this year, but Iraqi officials privately question whether that is possible. (Reuters/NAN)

How Boko Haram Suicide bomber kills five outside mosque in Borno

(Reuters) - A suicide bomber targeting worshippers at a mosque in a remote village in northeast Nigeria killed five people and wounded dozens, a security source said on Saturday, in an area where Islamist insurgents are mounting attacks almost daily.

The source, who declined to be named, said Muslims in the village of Konduga, in the northeasterly Borno state, were observing Friday prayers when the pick-up truck approached.

A local vigilante group stopped the truck to inspect it and the bomber then detonated the bomb a few metres away from the mosque, he said. There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but the Islamist group Boko Haram is likely to be the prime suspect.

In a separate attack, also on Friday evening, insurgents fired on a military base in the northeastern town of Damboa with rocket-propelled grenades, Gideon Jubrin, police spokesman for Borno state, said. He had no information on casualties.

Five killed as 2 Explosion hit fuel depot in Lagos

Two explosions occurred in Apapa, Lagos on Wednesday night, with sources claiming that five persons died while many were injured. Sources confirmed that the explosions occurred almost at the same time, with the first at the entrance to the Folawiyo tank farm and the other inside the facility.

It was gathered that the explosion inside the tank farm left four people dead and many left injured. According to sources, two petrol tankers were involved in the explosions. The trucks were said to have caught fire after they exploded.
