Hillary Clinton Writes BBOG says until Chibok Girls are set free, there will be no peace

A former first lady of the United States of America, USA and presidential aspirant of the Democrats, Hillary Clinton, has expressed her concern over the abducted Chibok girls, saying the victims and their family members will remain unsettled until the girls are returned.

Mrs Clinton expressed support for Nigerians and all those who have been working diligently to secure the safe return of the Chibok girls.

In a letter written to the BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, Clinton thanked Nigerians and all those who have been doing everything possible to rescue the missing girls alive.


The letter came on the occasion of the second anniversary of the kidnap of 219 Chibok school girls, on Thursday.

According to her, the 2nd Chiboks’ anniversary is “a stark reminder of the work we must do to advance equality for women and girls around the world.

FG committed to finding Chibok girls – Hajiya Amina

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Thursday reassured that it will continue to strive hard to find the 219 missing students of the Government Secondary School Chibok, Borno State, who were abducted on April 14, 2014 by suspected insurgents.

Hajiya Amina Muhammad, the Minister of the Environment, said this while speaking at the second year anniversary of the abduction of the girls in Chibok, headquarters of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

Muhammad led a delegation consisting of two other ministers to the event. She said: “It is with heavy heart that we visit today. “We visit today because it is not for want of efforts that your children, our children have not been found. “We had prayed that we will bring good news to you now, but the only news that we are bringing to you is our continuous commitment to bring back those daughters to their families and their communities.”

#BringBackOurGirls: Group Plans Protest March To Presidential Villa In Abuja

Security was on Thursday morning beefed up around the Presidential Villa as marches and rallies to keep the pressure on Abuja officials keenly fixed on the whereabouts and the rescue of over 250 young female students in Borno, continues. Perhaps the most dramatic Nigerian gathering will bring the pressure to the door of the president’s home.

In a press release by the group, there was an announcement of the march to the presidential villa set for Thursday the 22nd of May. The release read in part:

US First Lady, Michella Obama and Malala Yousafzai are among a growing chorus of voices who have joined the #BringBackOurGirls viral campaign to free the over  200 school girls kidnapped in Nigeria by an Islamic terror group last month.

As the Boko Haram Islamist Group remain the only night mare of the Nigerian state.  The public figures, along with celebrities such as Naomi Campbell and Bradley Cooper, have posted photos of themselves holding #BringBackOurGirls signs on Instagram and Twitter.

The Abuja #BringBackOurGirls rally in Abuja on Saturday afternoon was exceptional. The former FCT Minister, Aliyu Modobbo, in his solidarity message articulated clearly a point that is in many people’s mind. There is a concerted attempt to re-introduce slavery into Nigeria and we must all come out and struggle against slavery.

The most poignant message was from the Senator representing Borno South  in the senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume. He explained that he had been falsely accused of being a financier of Boko Haram. He came with two of his immediate junior sisters, both of whom are Christians. He added that their mother died as the regional women’s leader of the COCIN Church. His family is equally divided between Christians and Muslims so how could he sponsor a group that is trying to kill his own mother and sisters. He also came with his wife whose senior brother had been killed by the terrorists. 

Terrorism, he explained has no religion or tribe, they are criminals out to kill.
