Like Jonathan Like Buhari: A Packaged Lie Sold To Us By APC Ponzi Scheme

Going by the same parameters which we used to conclude that Goodluck Jonathan ran a corrupt government and by extension was a corrupt president, we can now confidently say that President Buhari runs a corrupt government and by extension is a corrupt president. I will explain.

Up till today, those of us who called Goodluck Jonathan a corrupt leader based our allegations not necessarily on his person but on the person and lifestyle of his appointees. We did not appoint his ministers and appointees, he did. So when they (his appointees) become corrupt and he does nothing about it, we simply conclude that the man who appponted them is complicit. Perhaps they are stealing for him and on his behalf. Whatever Dasuki did, Jonathan should be held responsible. That is the standard way to judge elected leaders.

As 2019 is coming: Those who appeared to be 'progressives' in 2015.....

2019 is coming and history is going to repeat itself. Those 'against' President Buhari today are going to find another saviour and they are going to support the hell out of him.

Those who appeared to be 'progressives' in 2015, whose voices were so strong that not joining them was almost a taboo, who painted the last administration so black that daring to speak up in defence of any action of that administration will earn you a barrage of insults, those people will be 2019's opposition. They will be in the shoes of the 2015 Jonathanians. They will become the ones fighting against the odds. They will be the ones tagged 'enemy of progress' for daring to mention Buhari. They will be the ones trying to defend all the actions and inactions of this administration.

SYMBOLISM MATTERS

Symbolism matters in leadership. Many members of the Nigerian ruling class do not realize this. In three weeks of being acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has not done anything substantively different from what President Buhari has been doing for almost two years. He has not healed a broken economy, tamed inflation, stemmed the collapse of the naira, improved power, or engineered a miraculous infrastructural renaissance. Nor has he dealt a final, decisive blow on Boko Haram. In other words, he has not changed the governing paradigm of the APC/Buhari administration and has thus not fundamentally altered how the administration is perceived and evaluated. It is still a calamitous administration on several fronts.

We were delighted to see that President Buhari is doing well, was cheerful and in good spirits.

The president I saw today is healthy, witty and himself.

The president's absence and imminent return shows that there is no vacuum in government and our system of democracy is working with all organs of government fulfilling their mandate. And let me use the time tested cliché, there is no cause for alarm!

Have you read the Financial Times report about President Buhari?

It is an interesting read, however, there is one error I saw in the report.

The report made use of the words 'federal fund' and made the thirty-six states look parasitic for depending on this federal fund. This is a misrepresentation of facts.

It is actually the federal government that is the parasite in the Nigerian federal-state govt relationship.

Anyway, I like that part when the writer stated clearly that no capable hand can succeed under the Nigerian system. He went further to state that the system is designed to fail. I am happy foreign observers are beginning to understand this.

PROTEST: You can be pro-Buhari, but be against the political and economic saboteurs

Wishing President Buhari a quick recuperation. And to all those agile youths who think it’s weird for President Buhari (a mortal like you) to undergo a serious medical procedure, wait until you’re 70 years old.

Simultaneously, I’m wishing all those brave protesters well for their willingness to expose the current economic debacle that is ravaging the land. And for those who think that a protest is not necessary (or fruitless), I honestly think those people are one of the problem of problems facing our volatile nation—Nigeria.

These fools are too daft to differentiate a public figure - persons elected into public office and people appointed into public office - from a private citizen. Buhari is a public figure. He's the President of 170 million Nigerians. The Aso Rock bunch of idiots don't know how democracy functions. These nonentities aren't smart enough to know that in a democracy, the President as a public man has no privacy at all. Nigerians have the right to probe, scrutinize, and pry into all the corners of Buhari's private life. We have the right to know where he goes for vacation, his health status, what he's doing on vacation, who went with him on vacation, what he eats on vacation, what sports or games he play for relaxation, what books he read, how long he's going to be away, when he'll be back, and so on and so forth. In civilized democracies, the people are supplied with all these information and much more.

It is about the propriety of key state officials and/or organs of state being found with fingers soiled in oil, even if legally explicable. Not all legal validation amounts to moral solidity. That is where the President misstepped. Much has been preached to the Presidency about symbolism and optics. If your sole mission is to fight corruption, then the mere appearance of possible corruption should be offensive to your office. Your credo should be that "there would be no corruption and there would be no appearance of corruption".

The Nigerian Army is becoming a threat to internal security and need to stop creating more internal enemies for the central government. Which one be 'Operation Python Dance'?

When they launched the 'Operation Crocodile Smile', we wailed and questioned the rationale behind the operation. We argued that the operation was a fraud and will not solve any problem in the Niger Delta, rather it will compound it. Today, that operation alone has made the Niger Deltans more united in seeing the federal government as their common enemy. Has operation crocodile smile ended? Is there still oil bunkering in the Niger Delta (and oh yes, is the army still not complicit in the oil bunkering industry)? What about militancy? What did the operation crocodile smile achieve? How much was spent?

The Nigerian army has launched another operation in the South-East code named 'Operation Python Dance'. Another job for the army generals.

IS IT HARD FOR THEM TO EMULATE PMB?

A Biafran lawyer recently sued President Muhammadu Buhari over his WAEC school certificate, probably thinking that the President forged his WAEC like they do in Biafra. The President did not go about shouting or wailing or screaming that he has immunity from prosecution, instead he got himself some lawyers to handle the issue in court!

One is claiming immunity for his bank accounts while one is hallucinating about some cabal hijacking the Presidency as if we didn't know that he leads a cabal that has hijacked Kwara State for donkey years and also wants to hijack the Nigerian Senate, and the other is now busy writing foreign embassies and even the UN, claiming that President Buhari wants to silence him, and I surmise that he has forgotten that in those countries to which he is writing letters, crooks and forgers don't lead their Senates; in fact, they are arrested with handcuffs!

I haven't missed the sardonic relish on the faces and voices of Failing Wailers aka Wailing Wailers as they feasted on the non-story of the so called story of the ownership of two houses in Dubai by our Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai. From some followers of the man in Zaria city who felt General Buratai should have allowed them to punch the chests and faces of military officers without repercussion to the bulk of the followers of the man who famously said stealing is not corruption, the feast over the General's ownership of those two houses in Dubai was huge, and till now, wherever and whenever you see them, the glint of mirth on their foreheads over the deliciousness of this "tasty meal" is as bright as the brightness of a policeman's torch!

But wait a minute! While it is understandable to pardon the followers of the Zaria man for being so naive to expect the country's army to allow them ride roughshod over their troops, which even Iran itself can never ever allow, it is utterly unpardonable for Failing Wailers to mock or deride or accuse General Buratai of any wrongdoing over his ownership of two landed properties in Dubai! Why so? All the news stories about the General's Dubai properties have stated that the man has duly declared them in his assets declaration forms at the Code of Conduct Bureau, and that they are available for the scrutiny of the media and the public, which then clearly gives him a clear moral edge over ALL his accusers. First impression is, if those two properties were proceeds of some shady deals then the General wouldn't have had the audacity to include them in his assets declaration forms; he would have considered the option of that famous Senator who is battling so many cases of fraud even up to Panama!

In Marianne M Jennings’ book, the Seven Signs of Ethical Collapse, she stated stern warnings that CEOs must watch out for to avoid landing in a pit. It applies to leaders in government too. A culture of fear and silence and young guns larger than life around CEOs (read leaders) are critical points that trouble great entities.Some people think what we do at BudgIT is actually to fight government. I think it is a reflection of our society and a poor understanding of democracy. What is democracy without conflicting debates?

We had an event on Tuesday and a Minister, the Director-Generals of Budget and Procurement and House Committee Chair on Appropriation were present. The idea most Nigerians push is that once you start criticizing government, you want them to fail. They also think you have joined the opposition. Those who have problems with your criticisms are not the leaders but the cheerleaders and praise-singers, looking for a mud to fight. Rather than have their independent opinions on issues, they prefer to follow what the leader signals.

I worked in a company that I was favoured to sit in management meetings. I was not allowed to talk (sometimes I interject when allowed) but I sat by the sides with colleagues watching our boss present memos. On this day, while working on the memos, I heard someone suggest an idea. The response from a boss was “The MD will not like the idea”. I had a pause in my spirit. “So what you are saying is that even though this might be good, we have assumed the thinking pattern of the MD, we should not be bold to suggest alternatives to him.” It was a moment I can’t forget. Subordinates do this not because they feel the MD might not accept the idea but if he accepts and the idea fails, the blame will fall on their head. No one wants to bite the bullet. They rather keep quiet and stay on the safe lane.

SOUTH SOUTH & SOUTH EAST NIGERIA: AN AWAITING CONFLAGRATION

From the moment the locomotive called Nigeria was economically redesigned to fully run on 'Crude Oil', at the expense of the country's other enormous mineral resources, the number of illegal arms and ammunition vis-a-viz the number of militants, hoodlums and rogues in the south south and in the south east Oil producing Nigerian States has grown exponentially and in return lead to the agitation for Biafra nation, emergence of numerous accidental Multimillionaires and Billionaires, incessant political killings, rampant kidnapping, armed robbery and pipeline vandalism Et al in that region...

Obviously, that 'flash-point of war' region is sitting on a 'keg of gun-powder' waiting to burst into a magnanimous conflagration capable of consuming both the trigger and the innocents. In other words, the President Buhari led government must carefully diagnose the illness before administering the prescribed medicine for patients who are suffering from 'pipeline vandalism sickness' or choose to usher the 'political insanity' into a full blown anarchy, because anything more or less than the actual dosage may lead to a continuous catastrophe.
