CHANGE AGENDA: BUHARI DETERMINED TO ROLL BACK POVERTY - PRESIDENCY

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the release of 10,000 tons of grains from the national strategic grains reserves for national distribution to counter food price increases and the intolerably high exploitation of common people by the trader-class.

He has also directed the minister of agriculture to ensure that all the able-bodied men and women in IDP camps be assisted to return to farming immediately.

This is coming as a reaction to calls for government measures to ease hardship associated with food inflation.

The Presidency however asserts that the devastation of the economy was caused by the Boko Haram insurgency, corruption and the lack of planning by the past administrations and one that should not be blamed on the Change Agenda of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

PRESS RELEASE: Ondo Council Poll: Thank You Ondo State People - APC

As the whole world is aware, the council poll, organised by the PDP and its Government was held today in Ondo State. As a party that treasures the rule of law and democracy, we of the APC advised the State governor against any act that will promote unconstitutionality, and award prodigal space to perfidy. We did all of that to demonstrate the avowed commitment of APC in the State to constitutionality, democracy andthe rule of law – the foundation of participatory democracy.

When it was clear to our party that the PDP and its government will not be dissuaded from the path of unconstitutionality and their determination to waste the meagre resources of the tax payers on the said puerile council election, we made it known to the good citizens of Ondo State that the APC will not participate in the charade called council poll. Based on our conviction that the people of Ondo State will always thread the path of constitutionality, we appealed to then to stay away from wastage. Today, our party is vindicated. This is evident in the absolute concurrence of the people with our plea, that they should stay away from the poll. The people demonstrated clearly and unequivocally that no-one can pull any wool over thier eyes. With this boycott by the people, they have announced their rejection of the polls, the government and the government party. We will not however, be surprised with phoney figures of participation by the ODIEC just to cover this shame.

CNPP PRESS STATEMENT: "Senate Retroactive Supplementary Recommendation: Unconstitutional"

The Senate Report on the missing $49.8 billion Crude Oil Sales Revenue that recommended, 'that President Goodluck Jonathan should prepare and present to the National Assembly, a supplementary budget to cover the sum of N90.693 billion for PMS subsidy for 2012 and the sum of N685.919 billion for kerosene subsidy expended without appropriation by the National Assembly', is unconstitutional, less than transparent as the expenditure of any amount without appropriation is an impeachable offense.

The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) had read from page to page and could not locate the section that mandated the Senate to make such unconstitutional and fraudulent recommendation; for Section 81 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended only stipulates in Section 81 that, 'The President shall cause to be prepared and laid before each of the House of the National Assembly at any time in each financial year estimates of the revenues and expenditure of the Federation for the next following financial year'. Not years after and to cover fraud.
