The incident occurred when Muslims were preparing to observe their Jumat prayers.
The terrorists who had parked a starlet car, ox-blood in colour, at about 2 P.M. near a Juma’at Mosque, had primed the IEDs waiting for the Juma’at prayer to commence before carrying out their act.
It was later learned that a 10-year old boy had notified the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Dakata, Superintendent Sani Ahmed, that he became suspicious and suspected a rickety car parked by the side of the Mosque.
The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Majiya said if the explosives had went off, it would have led to the death of no fewer than 130 people. He said the discovery of the bombs followed a tip-off by a boy who noticed strange movements by some persons suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect.
Majiya said after conducting a thorough search at the mosque, the police discovered the explosive devices.
He, however, said one of the explosives detonated itself, but killed no one.
