It added that troops discovered a fuel dump used by the insurgents. Some of the terrorists’ vehicles and seven motorcycles were also destroyed by the troop during the raid.
The defence authorities also said that the soldiers also captured 15 rifles, 11 machine guns, hundreds of ammunition from the insurgents.
The statement added that men of the Multinational Joint Task Force killed 53 insurgents in another encounter at Duguri near the nation’s border with Niger Republic.
According to the statement, 18 rifles, five general purpose machine guns, 25 hand grenades and materials for making Improvised explosive devices were recovered in the second attack.
However, two soldiers lost their lives in the clash while five others sustained different degrees of injuries.
The statement said troops also arrested 15 terror suspects in Abuja and recovered seven pistols, swords and other dangerous materials from them. The defence authorities, however, said that the operations to track the armed gangs would be sustained.
