Boko Haram’s evil unsustainable —Sambo •EU, UN, US condemn Abuja bomb blast

Nigerian Vice President Namadi Sambo, on Thursday, visited the scene of Wednesday’s blast at Emab Plaza, Wuse II, Abuja which claimed lives of at least 21 persons and wounded many more, declaring that the Boko Haram’s evil was sustainable.

He said the terrorists could not dampen the spirit of Nigerians with their evil acts, as he expressed confidence that terror would never gain ground in Nigeria or anywhere else in the world.

He appealed for cooperation with security agencies as they tackle crime and criminality in the country.
According to him, “this cowardly and unjust act will be defeated. Evil can never be sustained. This administration and Mr President will not leave any stone unturned until we defeat these terrorists. Terrorism cannot survive in Nigeria or in any part of this world”

Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, Suleiman Abba, later briefed the Vice President on the police preliminary investigations.

Meanwhile, the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and the United States of America (USA) in different statements, have condemned the Abuja bombing and killings of innocent Nigerians.

UN Secretary-General Mr Ban Ki-moon, on Thursday, condemned the Wednesday’s bomb attack on a busy shopping district in Abuja, in which 21 people were reportedly killed and 17 injured.

The European Union (EU) also condemned the bombing, saying the attack was the latest in a long series of violent acts of terrorizing the Nigerian population, including reports of further abductions of women and children in the north east of the country.

In the statement, it expressed its deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and insisted that the perpetrators must be brought to justice and all those kidnapped must be brought home.

Similarly, the US government, on Thursday, condemned the bomb blast in Abuja, saying the heartless and violent attacks on innocent Nigerians were inexcusable and clearly bespoke the criminality of those behind the attacks.
