NIGERIANS NOT FEEDING WELL, RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR INCREASED SPENDING ON HEALTHCARE, SAYS THE FED GOVT

I just heard with one ear that the Honorable Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh has put the blame in the rising cost of family spending more on health care at the feet of Nigerians not feeding well.

Says Mr Minister:

"Most Nigerians often consume carbohydrates and less of protein. This affect their well-beings, especially some children under the age of five who lack access to milk, beef, chicken and other basic proteins."

The Federal Government has released N388.304 billion out of N522.74 billion to 35 states as refunds of over-deductions on London-Paris Club loans.

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, has returned the corruption case file of a former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, to Justice A.R. Mohammed and ordered him to continue presiding over the case.

Suswam is being prosecuted by the EFCC, along with his Commissioner of Finance, Okolobia Okpanachi, on a nine-count charge bordering on conspiracy, abuse of office and diversion of state funds to the tune of N3.1 billion.

The death toll from the attack on communities in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected Fulani herdsmen has risen to 59, a lawmaker representing the constituency in the State House of Assembly, said on Sunday.

The herdsmen, said to number over 3000, spread across Turan council ward in Logo LGA and were moving round, destroying houses and farms between late Saturday night and early hours of Sunday.
The attack by the herdsmen reportedly left a large number of members of the community with varying degrees of injuries while several others were still reported missing and property worth millions of naira destroyed.

How gunmen kill 20 persons, 83 cows in Nasarawa

Gunmen at the weekend killed 83 cows at Adayi in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The traditional ruler of the community, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, claimed that about 20 people had been killed by gunmen in the last few weeks.

The killings were suspected to be reprisals by gunmen who crossed over from Benue State.

Not that Nigerians were not aware of these issues before, but prior to this time most issues or perhaps reports from different parts of the country relating to the heinous activities of these bloodthirsty men and the atrocities they mete out to their host communities have not been taken seriously by both the federal Government and many of those who have the instrument to make it a case at the national level.

From Agatu to Akure to Aba the story is the same. For that matter from Abia to Zamfara states and the Federal Capital Territory, the Federal government and its security agencies have apparently created two classes of Nigerians – herdsmen and the rest of us.

Notice, please that I did not add Fulani because they are not all Fulani or even all Nigerians. The reason is simple, I was once a cattle owner and several of the nomads engaged by the later supervisor, Yinusa Idi, who lived in a settlement near Gezawa in Kano State, were Fulani or Nigeriens.

My Take: Why is the president not joining hands with Governor Gabriel Suswam to resolve the ten months old strike of primary school teachers in Benue state, controlled by the PDP? Governor Suswam declared " I am cash-strapped and can't pay the money." O mase o.

He is therefore planning to reduce the state's workforce by 40 per cent. Can the state move forward with this problem?

The Department of State Security Service on May 12, 2014, Monday, declared the Nyanya Bomb Blast masterminds wanted.

The agency also announced a N25 million bounty on the suspects for any information that can lead to the arrest of the two that are at large.

Despite Military Deployment, Herdsmen Still Invade and Kill six in Benue State

Benue state on Thursday evening witnesses another attack as the suspected Fulani Herdsmen ravaged Anyii community, the hometown of governor Gabriel Suswam and killing six people with several others injured.

While it could be recalled that the Nigerian Army deployed troops to Benue and other states where the suspected Fulani has been attacking communities, It was learnt that despite the Military presence in the affected areas, Fulani militants are still staging attacks.

The Fulani herdsmen who move in groups of about 100 in number also attacked Chembe, Ifer and Tse Gundu, Anawah settlement at Ukemberaga/Tswarev ward of Logo local government area of the State.

Reports from one of the residents who escaped the swords of the attackers confirmed that the marauders came into the communities in two groups. He said, “they came in two groups numbering over hundred; one of the groups came through Ikapa-Tse Gundu road to attack Chembe village while the other group emerged from a far route and bursting out at Achive compound.

House Of Reps Condemn Chemical Attacks In Benue By Fulani Herdsmen

Nigerian  House of Representatives, on Thursday, under Matters of Urgent Public Importance condemned the alleged use of chemical weapons and other forms of attacks on Benue communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen that have left many dead and others displaced.

Chairman of Committee on Women Affairs, Christina Alaaga,  directed the Department of State Security (DSS), the Army and the Nigeria Police to expose  those behind the incessant  killings of the innocent peoples and bring them to book. 

The Nigerian Army as since deployed troops and officers to the troubled areas which covered three states of Nasarawa, Benue and Kastina.

The troop in a fire for fire encountered with the Fulani Herdsmen , yesterday, killed over fifty of the suspected attackers in Keana local government area of Nasarawa state.

Fulani herdsmen attack Gbise village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, 7 killed.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have attacked Gbise village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, killing at least seven people. 

Gbise attack was after the killing of over 100 peoples in two seperate attacks on Vingir and Gawa, all in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. Gbise was reduced to ashes in the latest attack. 

Its market and shops which spread across the Katsina-Ala-Takum Road were also torched.

The Nation’s senior correspondent in Taraba State, Fanen Ihyongo’s father, Joshua Ihyongo, fled the village days before the attack.

His cousin, Tavershima Shenge, who witnessed the carnage, said the assailants, numbering over 300, came in two batches with sophisticated weapons.

There were reports that over 100 lives were lost in Benue State following fresh attacks in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State and the clash between the military Fulani attackers at the border area of Guma and Awe Local Government Areas of Benue and Nasarawa States.

It was gathered that at the border area of Guma and Awe Local Government Areas, two soldier were also killed. Military troops that were drafted to certain trouble spots in Benue State had an encounter with the attackers around Ukpam in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, which is close to Awe Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.

It was during the encounter that the soldiers died. It was also gathered that the Fulani attackers also struck in Kekere, which is in Agatu Local Government Area, where the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, hails from.

Chemical Weapons Was Actually Used in Benue Killings - NAFDAC DG

The National Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii has made a public disclosure that substances suspected to be chemical weapons were actually used by he suspected Fulani Herdsmen in the killing of over 200 farmers in Benue State .

Informing the journalists yesterday, in Makurdi Orhii tasks the Federal Government to institute a probe into the alleged chemical killings in order to ascertain the type of poisonous substances used in the attack.

While donating relief materials to the displaced victims of the clashes between herdsmen and farmers at camps in Makurdi, the state capital and Guma Local Government Area of the state, the NAFDAC Boss sad, “I saw some of the chemical's canisters containing the chemicals that were used in killing the people; we have gathered them for analysis to actually know what they were."

Unknown gunmen kill 19, kidnap 17 in Benue

As the security situations in Benue state remain unfavourable will the acclaimed and continuous Fulani herdsmen killing spree, no fewer than 19 persons among them women and children were yesterday killed by unknown gunmen while 17 others were abducted in different villages of Agatu Local Government Area of the Benue State. 

Agatu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Stephen Dutse told newsmen in Makurdi yesterday that the attackers stormed, Olegaje, Ogumogbo, Ejuma and Ogbagaji, headquarters of the local government about 10pm in a guerrilla manner and started shooting sporadically making the people to run for dear life.

Barely 24 hours after a policeman ran amok and killed self, wife and five others, a house boy has toed his line beheading his former master, a High Court judge in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

 A-65-year-old retired Chief magistrate, Olufunmilayo Timeyin, was slaughtered by a house help at her residence in Laderin estate in Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun State.The 25-year-old house help simply identified as David allegedly scaled the fence of the late Timeyin’s bungalow, reportedly deactivated the security system built inside the building and laid siege within the premises before hacking the retired magistrates death.

An Unknown Gunmen in Benue state have yet again killed six people in two villages of Agatu local government area, barely a day after they opened fire in a local market in the area and then killed four persons.

This is even as suspected herdsmen today allegedly went on rampage, blocked the Makurdi-Lafia highway and conducted search on vehicles plying the route while they forcefully drag down Tiv occupants and unleashed terrors on them.

Benue Again, 27 Feared Dead

At least 27 persons are feared dead in a brutal attack which took place in the Agena village of Mbaalom, in the District of Gwer-East local government of Benue state in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Survivors and eyewitnesses accounts revealed that the invaders launched the attack on the community at around 5am, waking up many with the sound of gunfire coming from their blazing guns. The invaders were alleged to be the same group of herdsmen who local police seem powerless to stop, or apprehend.
