There were reports that over 100 lives were lost in Benue State following fresh attacks in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State and the clash between the military Fulani attackers at the border area of Guma and Awe Local Government Areas of Benue and Nasarawa States.
It was gathered that at the border area of Guma and Awe Local Government Areas, two soldier were also killed. Military troops that were drafted to certain trouble spots in Benue State had an encounter with the attackers around Ukpam in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, which is close to Awe Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.
It was during the encounter that the soldiers died. It was also gathered that the Fulani attackers also struck in Kekere, which is in Agatu Local Government Area, where the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, hails from.
It was in Kekere that the attackers were killed in their hundreds by the military, with the help of Agatu youths and the Tiv militia group of Gwer West Local Government Area, popularly called Alayo.
The attackers were said to have used chemical weapons on the Tongov community of Gwer West Local Government Area last week Wednesday.
