This is even as suspected herdsmen today allegedly went on rampage, blocked the Makurdi-Lafia highway and conducted search on vehicles plying the route while they forcefully drag down Tiv occupants and unleashed terrors on them.
Th Nigeria Police claimed to have moved in personnel who urgently restored order. Police Spokesman, Daniel Ezeala confirmed the killings in Agatu and said more security operatives have been deployed to the area while normalcy according to him had returned to the Makurdi-Lafia highway which was earlier hijacked by some trouble makers.
The state commissioner of Works, John Ngbede who hails from Agatu LGA told our correspondent that the six persons were killed in Enjila and Ogbagaji, headquarters of the council. He explained that four of the number were attacked and killed in their farms while the other two were passersby who met their untimely death in the hands of their assailants between the two villages.
Ngbede further appealed to security agencies in the state to deplore more personnel to the area as it has come under severe attacks since the beginning of this week.
