Nigerian Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen Aliyu Gusau (rtd) has said the current military operation in the north east in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency is going on well and government is ready to provide whatever it takes for the Armed Forces to bring this fight to an end. Defense minister stated this yesterday during his maiden visit to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Gen. Gusau said he is satisfied with the level of the operations at the moment saying that what the ministry aims to do is encourage them.
Minister also confirms that he has been briefed thoroughly by the Chief of Air Staff on the activities of the Air Force in the Niger Delta and the border patrols throughout the country and in the middle belt where the cattle rustlers are on the increase assuring that him and the Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musliu Obanikoro, would be visiting some of headquarters outside Abuja, to further assess what is happening there and to know what to provide to ensure their work is more effective.
In his address, Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh urge all services to operate without any form of rivalry commending all the service chiefs for their cooperation so far.
