The gunmen armed with sophisticated weapons were said to have stormed the community at about 6am, destroying lives and property worth millions of naira including the palace of the paramount ruler of Giza chiefdom, Alh. Umaru Elegu Abu ll.
One of the victims who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity confirmed that the gunmen invaded the community in the early hours of yesterday, killing everybody on sight just as they were chanting war songs.
“They came and killed several people; as I speak to you now, we have been able to recover 9 corpses from the surrounding bushes and the search continues. The corpses that were recovered have since been buried.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa state command, ASP Umar Ismaila confirmed the incident but said that only 5 casualties were recorded from the attack.
He noted that the command had deployed adequate personnel to the troubled area to restore normalcy.
