Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Raid Taraba Communities, Kkill 13

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed at least 13 people in separate attacks on communities in Bali and Donga local government areas of Taraba State.

Tiv Central leader in Taraba, Chief Zaki David Gbaa, in a phone interview with Saturday Mirror disclosed that two people were killed in Bornon Kurku around Kungana area while others were killed in Anchogo and Tortondo villages of Bali Local Government Area.

Saturday Mirror also gathered that armed Fulani men on Thursday attacked and killed seven people in Igo village in Donga Local Government Area.

Nigerian Police: 4 killed, 30 houses set ablaze as herdsmen attack Taraba village

The Nigeria Police in Taraba State on Sunday in Jalingo said gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked Dinya village in Gassol Local Government Area of the state and killed four persons. ASP Joseph Kwaji, the Police Public Relations Officer, Taraba State Police Command, who confirmed the incident while briefing newsmen, said the gunmen also set 30 houses on fire.

“The police, on arrival at the scene of the attack, recovered 13 empty shells of AK47 rifle, four cartridges and an assault rifle,” Kwaji said.

Nigeria Military Deployed More Troops to Kafanchan Amid 24-Hour Curfew

 

The Nigeria Army has mobilised more troops to the Southern Kaduna State, following the imposition of a 24- hour curfew on Kafanchan and environs after the killing of two natives from the area who allegedly insisted on carrying out jungle justice on a group of Fulani herdsmen. 

Military and other security agencies deployed more troops to the area to restore order and normalcy.

Kaduna State Government on Wednesday imposed a 24-hour curfew on Jema’a Local Government Area of the State. It was gathered that the youths were insisting on meting out jungle justice to no fewer than 32 Fulani men arrested by the Army with weapons in Kafanchan, headquarters of the Jema’a LG.

Herdsmen suspected to be Fulani allegedly wielding arms,in a truck were intercepted and the natives rushed to deal with the them. In trying to save the herdsmen, two natives were killed while several others sustained injuries from gun shots,allegedly by the security agents.

One feared dead as Police, OPC clash in Ajegunle Lagos

A member of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, was reportedly killed on Saturday during a clash between police at the Tolu Police Division, Ajegunle, Lagos State and the group. According to report, a policeman was also injured in the attack.

Trouble ensued when a rape culprit in the custody of the OPC was released by the Police under heavy gunfire. According to the OPC Lagos State Governor, Wasiu Afolabi, members of the OPC had on Friday arrested a man for rapping an 18-year old girl but was forcefully released by the police from their custody.

Unknown gunmen kill 15 in Nasarawa community

No fewer than15 persons have been killed by unknown gunmen in Giza, headquarters of Giza development area in Keana local government area of Nasarawa state during an early morning raid.

The gunmen armed with sophisticated weapons were said to have stormed the community at about 6am, destroying lives and property worth millions of naira including the palace of the paramount ruler of Giza chiefdom, Alh. Umaru Elegu Abu ll. 

Fire wrecks PDP secretariat in Ekiti

The secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, was on Tuesday gutted by fire. The incident came barely five days after the governorship primaries that produced a former governor, Ayo Fayose, as the party’s flag bearer for the June 21 election.

Although the cause of the incident was unknown, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Babayemi, confirmed the development to journalists.

Mr. Babayemi, however, said the incident would be investigated. 

Plateau communal clash: One killed, nine houses razed to the ground

One person was killed and nine houses razed on Wednesday in a communal clash between Shiwer in Kanke and their neigbhours, Pai communities in Pankshin local government areas of Plateau state. One person is said to be still missing.

The two communities have been at loggerheads for over a decade over ancestral lands and there are fears that this might develop into a full fledged war if not checked. Shiwer Community Development Association, at a press briefing in Jos on Thursday said recently, some armed youths from Pai went to Jingling village in Shiwer to cut timber. When the youths from Jingling asked them why, the youths from Pai was said to have attacked them, killing one in the process.

Police: 25 killed as Fulani herdsmen, Tiv youths clash in Benue

The Nigerian Police has confirmed that no fewer than 25 persons were feared dead, Monday, in a fresh outbreak of heavy fighting between suspected fulani mercenaries and Tiv youths at Agasha and Yelwata, in Guma local government area of Benue State.

Benue state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Superintendent, SP,  Daniel Ezeala confirmed the attack but said the command was yet to confirm the number of casualties adding that security personnel had been drafted to the affected communities.
