Gunmen attack Taraba APC chieftain Alhaji Adamu Mohammed's convoy, 1 dead, 3 wounded

The Police in Taraba state have confirmed the death of one person in an attack on the convoy of Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibi Local Government Area of the state. 

The command’s Public Relations Officer, David Misal said in an interview with newsmen in Jalingo on Thursday that the incident occurred at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Mala village. He added that three persons, critically injured in the attack, were on admission at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo.

The police spokesman gave the names of those injured as Abubakar Zaidu, 26, Ibrahim Abdulkadir 26, and Sahabi Manaja, 34. He explained that Adamu, a former local council chairman, was earlier assaulted by some youths when he visited Dampar ward to fraternise with APC supporters over Christmas.

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed at least 13 people in separate attacks on communities in Bali and Donga local government areas of Taraba State.

Tiv Central leader in Taraba, Chief Zaki David Gbaa, in a phone interview with Saturday Mirror disclosed that two people were killed in Bornon Kurku around Kungana area while others were killed in Anchogo and Tortondo villages of Bali Local Government Area.

Saturday Mirror also gathered that armed Fulani men on Thursday attacked and killed seven people in Igo village in Donga Local Government Area.

Nigerian Police: 4 killed, 30 houses set ablaze as herdsmen attack Taraba village

The Nigeria Police in Taraba State on Sunday in Jalingo said gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked Dinya village in Gassol Local Government Area of the state and killed four persons. ASP Joseph Kwaji, the Police Public Relations Officer, Taraba State Police Command, who confirmed the incident while briefing newsmen, said the gunmen also set 30 houses on fire.

“The police, on arrival at the scene of the attack, recovered 13 empty shells of AK47 rifle, four cartridges and an assault rifle,” Kwaji said.

Gunmen on Friday attacked Kano-Kambarawa Village in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State and killed two persons. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba command, Joseph Kwajion, confirmed the killing in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Jalingo on Friday.

Kwaji said the assailants attacked the village at about 10.30am. “Yes, I can confirm to you that at about 10.30am, our men found two corpses in Kano-Kambarawa village. Our investigations revealed that the two men were shot by heavily armed herdsmen who stormed the village,’’ he said.

Gunmen kill 2, abduct pregnant woman, burn houses in Taraba

An unknown gunmen on Friday attacked Kashimbilla community in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba, killing two persons and kidnapping two women, including a pregnant lady.

A member of the Taraba House of Assembly, Mr Mark Useni, who represents Takum II Constituency, confirmed the attack to newsmen in Jalingo.

Useni said two women, including a pregnant lady, were taken hostage by the attackers. He said efforts to trace the whereabouts of those taken hostage did not yield any result.

Mass Exodus of Tiv Community begins in Taraba as herdsmen attack continues

As it seems that the Taraba state government refused to address the ongoing attacks by the Fulani herdsmen on the Tive people, the continuous herdsmen attacks has been forcing the  Tiv community to move out of the state en-mass to the neighbouring state of Benue.

 The movement has become necessary, some Tiv people opined, following the I don’t care attitudes of the Taraba state government towards setting up machineries to protect the lives and properties of the Tiv people in the state.

Fulani herdsmen have brutally attacked three Tiv and Jukun villages in Wukari LGA of Taraba State, killing six and injuring 14 people at the weekend.Sources also added that there were other attacks in Gassol, Takum and Donga communities. In the latest offensive, Fulani marauders attacked and reduced the entire Tundun-Wada, a Jukun settlement to ashes.

Scores were also feared killed in the broad-day attack, eye-witnesses said. A member of the Taraba State House of Assembly representing Wukari II constituency, Hon. Daniel Ishaya Gani said the victims are Tiv and Jukun farmers.

Fulani herdsmen attack Gbise village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, 7 killed.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have attacked Gbise village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, killing at least seven people. 

Gbise attack was after the killing of over 100 peoples in two seperate attacks on Vingir and Gawa, all in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. Gbise was reduced to ashes in the latest attack. 

Its market and shops which spread across the Katsina-Ala-Takum Road were also torched.

The Nation’s senior correspondent in Taraba State, Fanen Ihyongo’s father, Joshua Ihyongo, fled the village days before the attack.

His cousin, Tavershima Shenge, who witnessed the carnage, said the assailants, numbering over 300, came in two batches with sophisticated weapons.

As the persistent attacks and killings continues in some communities in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states by the suspected Fulani herdsmen, Tiv sons and daughters in America  became furious and have restated their resolute determinations to fund their communities to defend themselves if the Federal Government failed to intervene.

How Fulani Herdmen Slaughter 35 People In Taraba State

No fewer than 35 persons were reportedly killed yesterday with properties worth millions of naira burnt in an attack between Tivs and Fulanis at Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. The affected communities include: Ikyo, Catholic Church Agwaza, Kokonbo, Azer, Lijam, Akesa, Tyow Doshima, Tse Saka and Kwaghlando districts respectively.

An eyes witness said, armed men identified to be Fulani herdsmen, numbering over 70, invaded eight communities/villages and other surrounding areas at about 2p.m. and engaged in shooting and burning of houses. Over 35 persons were killed by the gun men in different villages, while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
