Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Raid Taraba Communities, Kkill 13

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed at least 13 people in separate attacks on communities in Bali and Donga local government areas of Taraba State.

Tiv Central leader in Taraba, Chief Zaki David Gbaa, in a phone interview with Saturday Mirror disclosed that two people were killed in Bornon Kurku around Kungana area while others were killed in Anchogo and Tortondo villages of Bali Local Government Area.

Saturday Mirror also gathered that armed Fulani men on Thursday attacked and killed seven people in Igo village in Donga Local Government Area.

Nigerian Police: 4 killed, 30 houses set ablaze as herdsmen attack Taraba village

The Nigeria Police in Taraba State on Sunday in Jalingo said gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked Dinya village in Gassol Local Government Area of the state and killed four persons. ASP Joseph Kwaji, the Police Public Relations Officer, Taraba State Police Command, who confirmed the incident while briefing newsmen, said the gunmen also set 30 houses on fire.

“The police, on arrival at the scene of the attack, recovered 13 empty shells of AK47 rifle, four cartridges and an assault rifle,” Kwaji said.

Islamist gunmen kill 10, burn 20 houses in Taraba - Police

The Police Command in Taraba has confirmed that gunmen on Tuesday killed 10 people in Jibu village in Wukari Local Government Area of the state. ASP Joseph Kwaji, the police spokesman told newsmen in Jalingo that the suspected assailants also burnt more than 20 houses.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that at about 5 a.m. today, a group of Jukun youths stormed Jibu village, opened fire at the inhabitants and killed 10 people,’’ he said.
According to him, the suspected gunmen killed every one they saw in the area irrespective of the person’s ethnicity and region, including Jukuns. “I can also confirm to you that 15 people are badly injured and about 20 houses were set ablaze,” he said.
Kwaji, however, disclosed that a joint patrol of Mobile police and military had been deployed to intensify security in the area.
The spokesman, therefore, appealed to people in the area to stay calm, saying security personnel were on top of the situation. He assured members of the community that the perpetrators of “this dastardly act’’ would be brought to book.
