It was a flight from Leeds. I had worried myself sick about missing the flight because I made wrong assumptions about how long the drive to the airport was. It took nearly 45 minutes and cost £22 pounds instead of 30 minutes and not more than £15 I was advised by AYT. By the way, AYT is my daughter and travel advisor. She takes a keen interest in everything daddy does. We both can tell each others moods. She seems to smile eternally. But I know when those smiles are not there even when the teeth is flashing. I can always tell when I see those lucid, penetrating, questioning eyes communicating something else. This time she was questioning why I was going to Nigeria. And when I said to her that this trip was a holiday to somewhere different, the smiles came back. But I could feel the question she didn't ask. Why is Nigeria always bad news? Bombs in Kaduna; rustlers in Jos; billions embezzled in Abuja; ritual killings of humans in Soka, Ibadan; kidnappings in the east; oil installations blown up in the delta; Boko Haram insurgent attacks in Borno; political upheavals in Ekiti. How come there is never something positive coming out of this enclave.

Sometime ago, armed robbers made life very unbearable in South-East. The people of South-East gathered themselves (traders, drivers, motorcyclists, workers), all gathered together, some formed ''Bakasi Boys'', etc, and they went around towns and cities, arrested and killed known robbery kingpins and their members. Some sort of peace returned in South-East.

Also, in South-East, to tackle kidnapping. the APGA govt under Obi and now Obiano initiated a policy that if anyone is caught as kidnapper, his/her houses must be demolished, and govt will take ownership of all his/her properties. Many kidnappers have been flushed out and their houses destroyed.

ABUJA MAY DAY BOMBING: ‘Don't allow Terrorists to defeat my husband’ – Patience Jonathan begs Nigerians

THE Nigerian first lady and wife the President, Dame Patience Jonathan, has called on Nigerians to support her Husband, President Jonathan Goodluck in his fight against the insurgents Boko Haram.

The first lady, Mrs Jonathan said: “terrorism can defeat anyone including my husband, President Goodluck Jonathan, if he fights alone, because terrorism cannot defeat us collectively.”

She therefore make an appeal for collective battle to tackle the insecurity in the country.

Mrs Jonathan, made the call during the 44th Birthday celebration of the National Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, Mr. Gani Adams, held in Ikeja, Lagos.

According to Mrs. Jonathan, who was represented by Senior Special Assistance to President on Youths and Student matters, Mr. Jude Imagwe, she said, “I want to thank all Nigerians but as I appreciate your effort, I must remind you that you all have a responsibility to play in the security challenges facing this country.”

One feared dead as Police, OPC clash in Ajegunle Lagos

A member of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, was reportedly killed on Saturday during a clash between police at the Tolu Police Division, Ajegunle, Lagos State and the group. According to report, a policeman was also injured in the attack.

Trouble ensued when a rape culprit in the custody of the OPC was released by the Police under heavy gunfire. According to the OPC Lagos State Governor, Wasiu Afolabi, members of the OPC had on Friday arrested a man for rapping an 18-year old girl but was forcefully released by the police from their custody.
