OPINION: BEFORE WE START EATING MONEY - SAFETY

Nobody curse SANGO in dry season & expect a reaction, for the " god of Thunder " only strike during rains !

FACT __ Aside Lagos State, not more than 2 or 3 States out of 36 are currently paying the present #18,000 minimum wage in Nigeria without owing workers for several months and PENSIONERS for up to a year.

The call for #56,000 minimum wage by the Labour Union was made in an absolutely wrong time. It portrays the leadership of the Labour as being insensitive to the plight which the rest of the Nigerian masses are undergoing. Are we expecting States and FG to use our common resources to service just the workers at the detriment of other infrastructure and other palliative measure that will ameliorate the current economic impasse which we find ourselves ?

Six feared dead in Customs, smugglers clash in Ogun

Pandemonium broke out, Sunday evening, at Oke-Odan township in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, following the alleged killing of three children and four others by Customs officers while pursuing smugglers.

It was gathered that the Customs officials pursued some suspected smugglers, who allegedly smuggled two vehicles loaded with rice, coming from Igolo, a border town between Nigeria and Benin Republic and heading towards Sango in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Some witnesses said the Customs officials seized the vehicles and were driving them to their Idi-Iroko office when they were ambushed by some suspected smugglers.

WE CREATE OUR GODS BY FASEYIKU

It was a flight from Leeds. I had worried myself sick about missing the flight because I made wrong assumptions about how long the drive to the airport was. It took nearly 45 minutes and cost £22 pounds instead of 30 minutes and not more than £15 I was advised by AYT. By the way, AYT is my daughter and travel advisor. She takes a keen interest in everything daddy does. We both can tell each others moods. She seems to smile eternally. But I know when those smiles are not there even when the teeth is flashing. I can always tell when I see those lucid, penetrating, questioning eyes communicating something else. This time she was questioning why I was going to Nigeria. And when I said to her that this trip was a holiday to somewhere different, the smiles came back. But I could feel the question she didn't ask. Why is Nigeria always bad news? Bombs in Kaduna; rustlers in Jos; billions embezzled in Abuja; ritual killings of humans in Soka, Ibadan; kidnappings in the east; oil installations blown up in the delta; Boko Haram insurgent attacks in Borno; political upheavals in Ekiti. How come there is never something positive coming out of this enclave.
