According to Salifu, the prohibition of commercial activities is part of government’s security measures to take preventive measures against the attacks. He said the markets should operate between 6am and 7pm every day.
Many parts of Makurdi town were alerted and served with letters indicating that the invaders will be carrying out fresh attacks on the state capital and environs. But Salifu said the administration of Governor Gabriel Suswam had taken the issue of security seriously particularly now that the state had come under incessant attacks and insisted that the aim of the curfew was to enhance prevention of further invasions.
