Suspected Gunmen stormed Security Meeting In Zamfara state, Kill At Least 40 Vigilantes And Civilians

Suspected Fulani mercenaries that have been raiding and carrying out incessant killings in Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna states yesterday continued their reign of impunity as they stormed a security meeting holding in a village in Zamfara state and killed at least 40 vigilantes and civilians.

A security source confirmed that the attack occurred in a village called Yar Galadima in Zamfara state. The victims were holding security meeting involving vigilante teams and other stakeholders on how to secure their villages when suddenly the gunmen on motorbikes stormed the security meeting and murdered several villagers.

Threat of More Attacks: Curfew In Makurdi Markets

Following widespread fears that gunmen have planned to unleash terror on Makurdi town, the Benue State government has placed curfew on markets in the metropolis. The secretary to the state government(SSG), Dr David Salifu who announced this yesterday said the situation was prompted by the security challenges and frequent attacks faced by the state. The markets include Wadata, Wurukum and Modern Markets.

According to Salifu, the prohibition of commercial activities is part of government’s security measures to take preventive measures against the attacks. He said the markets should operate between 6am and 7pm every day.

Fulani Herdsmen: Katsina, Zamfara to convene security meeting over attacks

Gusau – As a way to fight crime and incessant attacks on the villages, Katsina State Government said it had concluded arrangement to convene a special security meeting with the neighbouring Zamfara state on the  ways forwards.

Disclosing this, Gov. Ibrahim Shema  of Kastina state, while in a meeting with his Zamfara counterpart, Gov. Abdulaziz Yari, at the Government House, Gusau, said it become imperative to find a solution to the every day attack on the people of these area that cut across the two states. Expressing the concern of the two state governments over the increasing criminal activities where large number of heavily armed hoodlums invaded villages, maimed and killed several community members.

CONFIRMED: Fulani herdsmen kill 15 with ‘chemical weapons’ in Benue

Benue people have alleged that suspected Fulani mercenaries launched attacks on residents of a community  with chemical weapons, claiming that the fifteen persons that were killed in Shengev community, Gwer West local government area had no gun wounds on their bodies but foamed from their mouths.

Benue Again, 27 Feared Dead

At least 27 persons are feared dead in a brutal attack which took place in the Agena village of Mbaalom, in the District of Gwer-East local government of Benue state in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Survivors and eyewitnesses accounts revealed that the invaders launched the attack on the community at around 5am, waking up many with the sound of gunfire coming from their blazing guns. The invaders were alleged to be the same group of herdsmen who local police seem powerless to stop, or apprehend.
