Former director general of NAFDAC and one time Information Minister,Prof. Dora Akunyili is dead?

Contrary the reports that the former director general of NAFDAC and one time Information Minister,Prof. Dora Akunyili is dead, the media adviser to the ailing former NAFDAC DG has debunked the rumour going round that the former Minister of Information is dead.

See the statement released via her official Facebook page.

Pls disregard the rumour about Prof. Dora Akunyili’s purported death. It’s the same baseless rumour circulated every 2/3 days by some people for reasons best known to them. They have been at this for about 4 weeks now and are likely to continue, since they apparently derive pleasure from doing so. The situation, as confirmed by former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, who visited Dora in the hospital earlier this week, is that she is getting better. Thank you all. -Isaac Umunna, Media Adviser to Prof. Dora Akunyili, Lagos, May 30, 2014.

There is nothing to worry about my health – Dora Akunyili

A former Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, has dismissed media speculations that she’s currently battling with a strange ailment outside the country. The former NAFDAC DG was apparently reacting to her controversial picture which generated buzz on the blogsphere on Tuesday.

Akunyili, who was one of the delegates representing Anambra State at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja while reacting via a Facebook post on Tuesday said there is nothing to worry about her present health status, adding that she has since recovered from the illness and has been declared fit by the Doctors, who said she can take part in the ongoing national confab.

The former Minister however, did not give further details about her illness, but she admitted that it made her “shed much weight,” but she needed to add up.

Akunyili in a post entitled, “I am well, fit and ready for the National Conference,” called on Nigerians not to forget her in their daily prayers.
