Prebendalism: Why Buhari Is Not Fighting Corruption and Why He Can Not Fight Corruption

President Buhari
When next someone tells you President Buhari is fighting corruption, look the person in the eye and call the person an ignoramus.

Let me explain to you why Buhari is not fighting corruption and why he cannot fight corruption.

First, if we are to judge an administration as fighting corruption based on how much EFCC recovered under the administration, then Buhari administration has not done anything special.

Before Buhari came into power in 2015, the EFCC had recovered over $12billion in the name of 'fighting corruption'.

Surviving Buhari's second coming is like Friday the 13th, everyday By Viola Ifeyinwa Okolie

As I drove out of the compound this morning, the steering wheel felt a bit wobbly in my hands. I got down and checked and lo and behold, I had picked up a nail and the tyre was as flat as a pancake.

The spare was emmm, well, I do hope my FRSC and VIO friends are not reading this post today.

So I wasted close to two hours trying to sort out the car problems.

Consequently, someone got to school a bit late and I had to go in and obtain an excuse slip blablabla.

WHY WE OPPOSED GEJ's FUEL PRICING IN 2012 AND SUPPORT PMB's IN 2016 - Ekujumi

"President Buhari may not be abundantly blessed with the intellectual capacity to change Nigeria as he hopes to, but his weaknesses cannot become anointing oil for making the former President a saint overnight. No, it can’t."

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW WHY WE OPPOSED GEJ's FUEL PRICING IN 2012 AND SUPPORT PMB's IN 2016 - Read this Enlightening Piece on the New fuel price regime - "My take on fuel-subsidy removal by the Buhari Administration" - by: Nelson Ekujumi - May 13, 2015

Flashback to 1 January 2012
Goodluck Jonathan removed fuel subsidy on New Year’s Day in 2012. This took fuel price from N65 to N141 at filling stations. This led to massive protests by civil-rights groups, labour unions, and Nigerians generally. APC, the opposition party at that time, took political advantage of the situation by identifying with the suffering and criticizing the Jonathan administration for removing subsidy. Goodluck Jonathan eventually backtracked. Fuel subsidy was restored.

President Buhari, senators for talks to resolve budget crisis, Senate raised a committee ahead

SENATORS yesterday resolved to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari next week to end the budget row —amicably.

The meeting is to take place either Monday or Tuesday, depending on the President’s choice.

Ahead of next week’s meeting, the Senate has raised a committee to review the disputed items in the budget and harmonise them in line with what was presented to the National Assembly by the President, who has sent a list of the grey areas and mutilated items to the National Assembly. One of such areas is the Calabar-Lagos rail project.

The senators’ decision to meet with the President was the highlight of yesterday’s Executive Session.

Most senators were disturbed by four things at the closed door meeting, a source said. These are: breakdown of communication between the Presidency and the National Assembly; loss of public sympathy by the National Assembly; the proposed Occupy National Assembly protest; and negative effects of the budget impasse on the economy and the wellbeing of Nigerians.

It was gathered that most senators at the meeting were unhappy that public opinion was weighing against the National Assembly.

A committee comprising the chairmen of the Appropriation Committee (Danjuma Goje -Senate and Abdulmumin Jibrin-House of Representatives) and the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo-Udoma and others was formed.
