Boko Haram Defeat: Abubakar Shekau appeares in a new video disputing claims by President Buhari that Terrorist group had been routed from its Sambisa Forest stronghold

Boko Haram’s elusive leader Abubakar Shekau appeared in a new video on Thursday disputing a claim by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari that the Terrorist group had been routed from its Sambisa Forest stronghold.

“We are safe. We have not been flushed out of anywhere. And tactics and strategies cannot reveal our location except if Allah wills by his decree,” Shekau said in the 25-minute video, flanked by armed fighters.

BREAKING: President Buhari Appoints Kpotum Idris As New IGP

Nigerian President , Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Ibrahim Kpotum Idris as the Acting Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force.

AIG Ibrahim Kpotum Idris from Niger State, may have been appointed as the acting Inspector-General of Police following the exit of Mr. Solomon Arase from the position on Monday.

A confirmed source within the Aso Villa comfirmed him as Buhari's choice for Arase replacemen.

Idris was accompanied to President Muhammadu Buhari’s office by Arase at 2:20pm on Tuesday. Some officials were seen carrying the new rank which Idris would be decorated with.

Expert Says Buhari's China trip most successful in economic terms

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari's recent visit to China can be considered as the most successful and profitable given what he has gained in terms of economy, a Nigerian financial expert said Friday.

In an interview with Xinhua, Johnson Chukwu, chief executive officer of Cowry Asset Management Limited, a Nigerian financial advisory and research firm, said that while Buhari's other foreign trips might have gained political attention, his trip to China has yielded fruitful results for Nigeria-China ties and regional cooperation in terms of economy.

Tinubu to ministers, Be prepared to solve problems

The National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Governor of Lagos state, Senator Bola Hamed Tinubu has congratulated the newly swore-in ministers of the Federal Republic by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu who was in Kaduna as the special guest of hornour on Wednesday at the launching of Kaduna Cabs scheme charged the New Ministers to be ready to solve Nigeria's numerous problems and assist president to deliver on the promises of change made to Nigerians during the electioneering campaigns.

According to Tinubu Media Centre, "My congratulations to all the new ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Today, you begin the hard work to help President Buhari deliver on the promise of change he has committed to."

President Buhari Named self as Nigeria’s petroleum minister, Promises to appoint a minister of State for Petroleum

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday named the petroleum minister. And that is himself. Adding that he would personally head the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in the new cabinet.

Mr. Buhari, while addressing some select reporters in New York on Tuesday, after addressing a Global Leaders’ Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism, the President said: “I wil remain Minister of Petroleum.

“I will appoint a minister of State for Petroleum”. He said, the step is being taken as part of efforts to sanitise Nigeria’s oil industry, which is said to be plagued by corruption, massive fraud, and crude oil theft.

The President who restated his determination to sanitise Nigeria’s oil industry and free it from corruption and shady deals said the first step in this direction had already been taken with the appointment of a new management for the NNPC and its subsequent reorganisation.

He added that the prosecution of those who misappropriated NNPC’s revenue under past administrations would soon commence, reaffirming his anti corruption pledge that the federal government will fight corruption, because it has been identified as the root of all problems hindering Nigeria as a nation.
