JAMB scraps awaiting O’level results, includes 4th choice

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced that students will no longer be able to secure admission into higher institutions while awaiting their O’level results.
JAMB said this was part of its restructuring in preparation for the 2017 UTME higher institution examination.
This means candidates must sit and obtain the results of either West African Examination Council school examination, WAEC, or National Examination Council, NECO, before admission. The board said this will keep candidates from taking the slots they do not qualify for.

JAMB also introduced a fourth choice of school, but said candidates can apply to only one government-owned university.

The Federal Government has directed that all specialized are to stick to their core mandates which they were set up to carry and desist from running programmes which have no bearing to their foundation.
Specialised Universities are University set up to pursue specific courses/ programmes to steer the need of manpower in a particular sector of the economy. Some of these specialized institutions include Universities such as Universities of Agriculture, Universities of Technologies, Universities of Medicine, amongst others.

UTME: JAMB releases results, cancels 36,164 results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has released the results of the universities matriculation examination held nationwide on April 12. The board also invalidated the results of 36,164 students. The Registrar of JAMB, Dibu Ojerinde, made this known on Thursday at a news conference on the release of the results in Bwari, Abuja.

He said 24 candidates scored 250 points and above in the examination. He also said 315,401 candidates scored between 170 to 199 points, while 108,488 candidates scored between 200 to 249 points.

He said this was the outcome of the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) and Dual Based Test (DBT) conducted in all the centres across the federation.
