SAUDI GROUP TO ESTABLISH MULTIMILLION DOLLAR AGRIC CITY IN KWARA NORTH

A Saudi Investment Company, Zain Al-abdin group is to set up an Agric City in Kwara State. The proposed Agric City, which is to be located along the River Niger in Kwara North will comprise a cluster of farms specializing in cultivation, processing and export of rice, maize and vegetables.

The Chairman of the investment group, Zain Al-Abdin Nafawi disclosed this when he and other members of the group visited the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed last Friday at the Government House, Ilorin.

According to the Chairman, the Agric city will also contain facilities such as schools, hospitals, shops and other associated services.

Governor Ahmed Solicits Prayers, Expresses Optimism in New Year Message

The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed wishes all citizens of the State a joyous and prosperous new year.

The Governor prays for fulfilled hopes and expectations with greater accomplishments in the new year.

Dr Ahmed also solicits prayers for continued peace in the State and the country as a whole. He urges the people to join him in rededicating themselves to achieving collective aspirations for a better Kwara State and restates his commitment to elevating the state and it's people.

World Press Freedom Day: Gov Ahmed promises better working conditions for Journalists

Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed, has reiterated his commitment to enhancing and improving working conditions of journalists working with the state while assisting their counterparts to discharge their responsibilities as the authentic voice of the people and as a bridge between government and the citizens.

Governor Ahmed gave this assurance in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day.

Governor Ahmed appoints 9 special advisers

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved the appointment of 9 special advisers to strengthen governance and assist in the realisation of his administration’s development aspirations.

According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sola Isiaka Gold, the appointments, which follow the State House of Assembly’s approval of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed’s request to appoint Special Advisers.

The newly appointees are as follows:

1) Barrister Gobir Hassan Ahmed, Special Adviser, Labour Matters
2) Alhaji Aliu Zakari Gunu, Special Adviser, Local Government
3) Mr. Aanu Ayodeji Ibiwoye, Special Adviser, Agriculture and Rural Water Support Services
4) Alhaji Musa Abdullahi Mohammed, Special Adviser, Rural Energy Support Services
5) Alhaji Abdullahi Duro Muhammed, Special Adviser, Emergency and Relief

Retired senior judges serve as consultants in fixing judgments - Ayo Salami

The Retired President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami on Tuesday raises alarms that there are reports of some judges and retired senior judges who practice as consultants in fixing judgments in the country.

Salami, who alleged that these consultants take money from litigants to bribe the judges or intimidate judges to pervert the course of justice. He made the statement while speaking in Ilorin, in an opening ceremony of the 2014 biennial law week of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin branch; with the titled, ‘A centenary of legal practice in Nigeria: 1914-2014: Legacies and lessons for the next century.’

According to him; “It is my respectful view that appeal should be made to these retired senior justices to leave the despicable role of bribing or intimidating judges. They should engage themselves in other respectable vocations. The judges who lend themselves to these dishonourable practices of receiving money or lending themselves to perverting the course of justice under the guise of not receiving reward monetary or otherwise should note that there are other means of checking the excesses."
