Nigeria Is Broke, Hence Fuel Price Hike - Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the Federal Government has to take painful decisions and make tough adjustments because Nigeria is broke.

He said this while briefing journalists after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting that the decision to increase the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit from N86 to N145 per litre was one of those decisions.

Lai Mohammed likened Nigeria’s situation to a case of a person, who got a pay cut and had to adjust to the current reality in terms of his spending. “The current problem is not really about subsidy removal. It is about (the fact) that Nigeria is broke. Pure and simple!

Our minister of information, Labaran Maku had on April 2nd, two months earlier publicized that Nigeria was ready for Ebola and the Ministry had procured vaccines for Ebola.

AKUNYILI WAS A DIFFERENT BREED-FASHOLA. DE FASH MAGAZINE

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Saturday condoled with the family of the former Minister of Information, Professor (Mrs.) Dora Akunyili over her passage.

In a condolence letter to the family of the deceased who had a very distinguished tenure as Director-General of the Governor described Professor (Mrs.) Dora Akunyili as an outstanding woman who showed Nigeria that she was a different breed.

He added that through her dedication and uprightness while serving as the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Control (NAFDAC), she saved tens of thousands of lives of Nigerians and the country will forever be grateful to her for the war she waged and won against the manufacture and sale of fake drugs in Nigeria.
