Nigerian Air Force Alpha Jet Foils Plan To Ambush Surface Forces, Kills 15 Boko Haram Terrorists

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), has successfully foiled plans by the Boko Haram terrorists to ambush the ground troops and also killed over 15 of the terrorists in the ongoing operations in parts of the North-east.

The Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, in a statement yesterday, said the air component of ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ has uncovered a plot by the terrorists to ambush the surface forces harboured at Doron Naira, north of Borno State.”

TROOPS AVERT ATTACKS ON OIL PIPELINES AT GULOBOKRI AND EWELESO, BAYELSA STATE

Today, 29th May 2016 in the early hours of morning, troops of 343 Artillery Regiment of 2 Brigade, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, carried out patrol within the general area of Gulobokri and Eweleso, around Brass area in Bayelsa State.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman who is the Acting Director Army Public Reltaions confirms that during the exercise, the patrol team had an encounter with some armed militants in 2 Speed boats with intents to blow up Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) pipeline at Gulobokri.

PMB replaces Ade Abolurin with Abdullahi Muhammadu as new Civil Defence commandant

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday approved the appointment of Mr. Abdullahi Muhammadu as the new Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps. 

Muhammadu succeeds Dr. Ade Abolurin, who has retired from service. According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the new NSCDC boss, who was an Assistant Commandant-General of the NSCDC before his new appointment, hailed from Muye in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.

Muhammadu holds a B.Sc in Sociology from the University of Sokoto, and a Masters in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

NIS tragedy: Protesting youths clash in Abuja over Moro's sack and prosecution

Clashes and confrontations erupted at the Ministry of Interior yesterday when two groups of demonstrating youths stormed the ministry to protest the death of the 17 Nigerian youths during the recent recruitment exercise by the Nigerian Immigration Services.

A group called for the sack and prosecution of the Minister, Comrade Abba Moro, accusing him of negligence, the other group dismissed the request, alleging that some people had sponsored them.
