From Plans To Actions: Breakdown of 2016 budget to be presented Thursday

Minister of budget and national planning, Udo Udoma says the official breakdown of the 2016 budget will be presented on Thursday.

According to a statement which the ministry issued in Abuja on Monday, the strategic implementation plan of the budget would also be presented on the same day.

The statement signed by James Akpandem, Udoma’s media aide, said the minister would perform the assignment with Zainab Ahmed, minister of state of budget and planning.

Akpandem said the budget breakdown will take place at the banquet hall of the state house at 10 am.

AT LAST: Buhari Signs 2016 Appropriation Bill into Law

After weeks of controversies, President Muhammadu Buhari has finally signed the 2016 budget.


The signing of the budget was witnessed by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker, House Of Reps, Yakubu Dogara, Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Budget ,Udo Udoma and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Danjuma Goje and his counterpart in the House Of Reps, Abdulmumuni Jibrin.

President Buhari assented to the Appropriation Bill after the National Assembly submitted a clean copy to him. The president earlier withheld after discovering some “grey areas” in the Appropriation Bill.

2016 Budget panel to conclude work today

The Presidency may have to wait till today or tomorrow for the finetuned 2016 budget as the 20-man committee working on the document may resolve the grey areas and clean it up today.

President Muhammadu Buhari was said to be “anxiously awaiting” the budget last night. According to sources, the 20-man team from the National Assembly and the Federal Executive Council will hold final round of consultations on the grey areas today in Abuja.

The committee will shun the public holiday to consider the National Assembly’s review of the budget. Members of the committee from the National Assembly are House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Lasun Yusuf, Senate Leader Ali Ndume, Sen. Danjuma Goje( Chairman, Senate Committee on Apprporiation), Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin( Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation) Sen. Biodun Olujimi.
