IN THE LAND OF VIRTUE (A tale of decay) Episode 2

July 28,
I remember my father and my mother today with great mental agony. The memory of their killings is still heavy upon my heart. May their ejected souls and those of my siblings and those of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace. Amen.
In the dairy (IN THE LAND OF VIRTUE), Isabelle had remembered those relations with great pain. She found it extremely difficult to control her emotion, and tears soon trickled down her cheeks. The more she tried to withdraw her mind from the memory of the gruesome murder the clearer the image became, and the longer they stayed, and stung her mind. It had been a very sad day the time she never ever wished too see again in her life. She never wished to see it again in her life. She would not wish it even for her worse enemy in her prayers. This was because if the supplications became efficacious, and she got to be sure of it , she would forever carry the burden of guilt and nurse the wound of conscience.
The dastardly and inhuman act was occasioned by a tribal strife which graduated into a war because those who could have averted it took refuge in complicity, and at times indifference.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL For Monday 30 September 2013 “MIDWIVES ARE REWARDED” BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memory Verse: John 14:3“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Read: John 14:1-3 – Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Message:
open-heavens-1Can you dare to stand alone? Can you dare to stand on the side of God while the government is against you? The midwives of Exodus 1 fell out of favour with the government of the day but they did not care. As a result of their sacrificial obedience to God, they entered into favour with God and began to receive special divine care according to Exodus 1:20. In fact, verse 21 says,
“And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.” THE REST

MEMORY VERSE:Malachi 3 : 11. “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.”

READ: MALACHI 3 : 8 – 11. Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

open-heavens-1Another area that restitution may be required in relation with God’s instructions can be seen in His dealings with Joshua and the children of Israel. Then one day, they came against a little town, Ai, and they were defeated. This was contrary to what God had promised him, so he fell on his face and enquired what went wrong. The Lord told him that some water had mixed with his petrol (gas) and that until there was a separation, they  MORE

BREAKING NEWS: President Vladimir Putin pulls away from Kerry-Lavrov deal on Syrian chemical disarmament. Assad gets to keep his WMD

Russian leaders finally picked apart the Kerry-Lavrov understanding for Syria’s chemical disarmament – less than a week after it was unveiled in Geneva last Saturday. Thursday, Sept. 19, they slapped down a string of coordinated obstructions. One knockout blow came from President Vladimir Putin, who commented dryly that he could not be 100 percent certain that the plan for the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons would succeed. “But everything we have seen so far in recent days gives us confidence that this will happen. I hope so,” he said.
To dispel that hope, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu followed up with a denial of any plans to destroy the Syrian chemical stocks on Russian soil.
Then, in an interview to Fox News, Syrian President Bashar Assad, in sync with Moscow,  More

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL For Friday 20 September 2013 “BENEFICIAL PROBLEMS” – Pastor E. A. Adeboye

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL For Friday 20 September 2013 “BENEFICIAL PROBLEMS” By Pastor E. A. Adeboye
Memory Verse:Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Read: Acts 8:1-8  ; And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.  And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.  Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city.

We go home sad, the supports go home sad - Mourinho, Chelsea fans questioned Jose Mourinho’s decision

Last night, Chelsea fans questioned Jose Mourinho’s decision to continually leave Juan Mata out of his team.
The Spanish playmaker started from the bench, as the Blues lost to Basel in their first Champions League match this season. Mourinho picked Hazard, Willian and Oscar – who scored the first goal – to play behind Eto’o.
However, the former Real Madrid boss was quick to shoulder the blame.
Reflecting on defeat in the opening group game of this season’s Champions League, Jose Mourinho looked towards victories in the coming away games plus work in training as the remedy for recent results.
He said at his press conference after the match: “Do I have egg on my face? Of course. I’m the manager and responsible for everything. The bad results and bad moments>>>>>Hot news naija

Presidency Sources: How Jonathan Forced Baraje-led PDP Treasurer To Resign, Promised Him A Political Appointment

Presidency sources have disclosed how President Goodluck Jonathan pressured Tanko Isiaku Gwamma, the treasurer of the Abubakar Baraje-led  new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), to announce his resignation on Sunday. In a statement earlier today, Mr. Gwamma claimed that he arrived at the decision to quit “after a careful study of the unfolding events in the polity and a deep sober reflection of the consequences of the outcome of such impasse on our party.”

However, two reliable sources within the Presidency revealed that his arms were twisted and he was maneuvered into leaving the splinter faction of the party and renouncing his post as treasurer. “Alhaji Tanko Isiaku Gwamma resigned after he was promised a juicy political appointment,” said one of our sources. The source added that Mr. Gwamma asked for some time to weigh his options, but Mr. Jonathan’s aides made it clear that they wanted him to act immediately.

“He initially insisted that he needed to consult before tendering his letter [of resignation], but Alhaji Gwamma was asked to bring his letter immediately and speak with reporters at the [Presidential] Villa. He could not reject the offer,” the source added.

It was also learnt that Mr. Gwamma was not warned beforehand that cameramen and reporters would be brought in and he would be asked to speak to them immediately announcing his departure from the Baraje faction of the party.

One source said he hesitated a little before consenting to speak to the press. He stated, “Our desire is for the PDP to continue to lead while others follow. As such, we must eschew all vices capable of unnecessarily heating up the polity.

“I pledge my loyalty to the Bamanga Tukur leadership, while calling on all party faithful to do [the] same.”
One of our sources said the Presidency, Mr. Bamanga Tukur, who heads a faction of the party, and Tony Anenih, the faction’s chairman of the Board of Trustees, had decided that the best strategy for confronting the Baraje group was to use cash and political appointments to woo some of its members back to the Tukur fold.

The source stated that former Vice President Abubakar Atiku was the main financier of the splinter group, adding that most of the seven governors with the Baraje group were scared of funneling money to it for fear of the Presidency sending officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes......... G-7 PDP Governors, President Jonathan, Agree To ‘Ceasefire’, Amaechi, Others Decline Issuing Any Statement

The G-7 group of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors which met with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock villa yesterday night agreed to observe a “ceasefire” until final discussions on October 7 to iron out differences they have with the president. An aide to President Jonathan said the air around the meeting gave them hope that the disagreements between the president’s faction and the ‘New PDP’ might be resolved on that date.
But one of the governors in attendance told Reporters the meeting specifically achieved only the specific purpose of compelling both sides to avoid escalating the issues further.
He said some of them were opposed to issuing a statement at the end of tonight’s out of concern that it could be manipulated by the president’s team.
He pointed out that before they could iron out any differences, the governor of Cross Rivers State, Liyel Imoke, had already drafted a statement to which they agreed so as to give peace a chance. the handwritten statement was later read by the Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu

Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Asks Tukur's Led PDP To Nominate New Ministers

There are indications that President Goodluck Jonathan had directed the Bamanga Tukur faction of the Peoples Democratic Party to compile names of its members for minisiterial positions. A member of the National Working Committee of the faction, who made this known in Abuja on Sunday, said the directive was already being complied with.
Jonathan, in his first major cabinet shake-up since his inauguration on May 29, 2011, had on Wednesday sacked nine ministers. The sacked ministers were Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai (Education), Okon Ewa-Bassey (Science and Technology), Olugbenga Ashiru (Foreign Affairs), Hadiza Mailafia (Environment), Shamsudeen Usman (National Planning),and Ama Pepple (Housing, Lands and Urban Development). Also affected were Olusola Obada(Defence), and her counterparts in the Agriculture Ministry, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, and Power, Zainab Kuchi.
The Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, had explained that the sacking of the ministers had no political undertone but there were reports that it was fallout of the crisis in the PDP.
The PDP was factionalised on August 31 when seven of its governors formed a faction, known as New PDP. The NWC member, who pleaded anonymity, said, “The President has directed the party to suggest names for the vacant ministerial slots. We have already asked our state chapters to send their nominees to us. As I talk to you, we are waiting for their nominees.” >>>Full story here>>>Hot News Naija

I used to go to a radio station every month to inform my people about the amount released and the actual amount released to me by the state. I would let them know what the balance was after the payment of salaries and what we were going to use it to do in the LG.

They will not even give us two-third of it.

Assad should not be given time to hand over chemical weapons - Canada's foreign minister
Canada's foreign minister John Baird is calling Syria's offer to begin providing information on its chemical arsenal 30 days after it signs an international convention banning such weapons "ridiculous and absurd." Baird said Syrian President Bashar Assad could not be given extra time. Baird said: "This is a man, who up until a week ago denied that they had any such weapons."</strong>

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who joined Baird at a news conference Saturday in Istanbul, also expressed skepticism, saying that Assad was playing for time while continuing to commit atrocities.

The comments come as U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov were in Geneva negotiating a Russian proposal to inventory, isolate and eventually destroy Syria's chemical weapons stocks.

They announced an agreement on a framework to secure and destroy Syria's chemical weapons by mid-2014 and impose UN penalties if the Assad government fails to comply.

Davutoglu said Turkey welcomed the diplomatic initiative to remove Syria's chemical weapons, but it was still incumbent on the international community to bring to justice the Syrian officials responsible for crimes against humanity.

Western countries blame Assad for the use of chemical weapons, although he denies the charge and has accused rebels engaged in a two-year-old civil war against his government of using lethal chemical agents.

Canada and Turkey have both called for a strong international response to the Aug. 21 chemical weapons attack in a Damascus suburb that U.S. President Barack Obama said killed more than 1,400 civilians, nearly a third of them children.

Mallam Shehu Sani is the president, Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria (CRCN) and a governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC. Sani’s activism earned him a death sentence during the late General Sani Abacha’s regime.
He was incarcerated at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison with the late Shehu Yar’Adua, MKO Abiola and former president Olusegun Obasanjo. In this interview with Aza Msue, he said that the northern governors in the President’s camp will disappoint him adding that Jonathan has appeased the North more than his South-South kinsmen, among other issues. Excerpts
What is your view on the threat by ex-militants regarding Jonathan’s election in 2015?
The Niger Delta militants do not represent the interest and views of the people of the South-South. They represent their own personal interest, greed, want and extortionist ideology. They are neither freedom fighters nor are they fighting for the rights of the people of Niger Delta; they are capitalising on their greed and exploiting the plights of their own people. There is nowhere in any part of the world where a woman or man that claims to be fighting for the right of the people will also be making some personal claims.
